My cast Iron stuff I only use avocado oil to season. It's a high heat (500°) oil. It works very good on cast iron imho. Actually avocado oil is the only oil I use to fry. It has a lot of benefits for health

Didn't go all out just got the 17 inch one with the carrying case portable for camping or backyard. Most of my buddies have the huge ones, my Grandson has the biggest one he even forked out the cash for some fancy storage Blackstone with a sink and everything nice.
I got all the extras breakfast set, Burger set, cleaning stuff you name it. Bought some marinated skirt steak to throw on it and invited a couple over for a meal.
My buddy gets there and I'm about to fire it up and he says did you season the griddle? Apparently you have to buy seasoning conditioner and do some seasoning process five times before you use it the first time. I ended up cooking on the gas grill as I couldnt go through the process as I didnt have the Blackstone conditioner.
The ladies were giving me sh.t. I'm getting up in the morning get the conditioner and get it seasoned for a brunch. I wanted to use Crisco but was told the Blackstone stuff needs to be used oh well cant wait for brunch tommorow. All I know is your seeing these Blakstone griddles everywhere.
You don't need any special seasoning. Vegetable oil is fine. Treat it like cast iron. And there is not difference between it and a gas grill except your stir fry and eggs won't fall through lol. I have a large Blackstone and a kamado joe. I use the KJ for basically everything except stir fry and brunch. Sometimes I'll do burgers on the Blackstone but I just love that smoky flavor so I usually stick with the KJ...
