Re: Are these Monitor 10s?
Can anyone make a comparison between the Monitor 10 and the more recent Monitor 60 or 70? I have seen some good prices at Newegg and Polk Direct but the specs indicate that they would probably need a sub. Again this would be for music only.
No comparison except in name. IMO - the vintage monitor series destroys the new one, but thats just my opinion.

That's correct. He designed the first real audiophile grade speaker cables that Monster sold, which would have been @ 1989. They were a fairly thick cable with a light gray cover. It was sold by the foot and had to be terminated by the shop selling it. Mine were either 6 or 8 feet long and were a serious improvement over basic cable.

Carbon fiber is wonderful stuff until you use it on a submarine and go look at the Titanic. Suddenly you find it's limitations rather quickly...

Honestly the RTi12 enclosures are questionable enough that its ok. I have literally separated the front baffle with my hands. Polk only made that iteration for a year or two before completely changing the cabinets.
Id spend the $300 and tell him to scrap them.
