Re: Legend and Reserve use exact same woofers?
I definitely agree that the performance margin is much better now between top tier and second tier Polks. Maybe a little too close.
I'd still like to see Polk develop and sell a heritage based large Monitor 7 type of speaker if they are going to drop the Legend lineup. I was thinking for years that I'd buy a new SDA model as soon as it came out and I did that. Strange that a new line hasn't been announced publicly yet when it's been obvious for a while that the Legends are no longer being stocked.

Re: Legend and Reserve use exact same woofers?
Originally, there was talk of a new CRS+ type speaker along with a floor stander, which they wanted to be about the size of the 1C. I even lent Polk a pair of modified CRS+, the 4.1TL. I never got an explanation as to why they didn't come out with it.

I think Polk missed the boat not offering a sda monitor along side the L800. Huge marketing fail, imo.

Re: Let's talk DAC's

Other way around. A stand alone DAC can hang around forever. But I fear the streamers might have a term limit if the apps stop getting software updates.
To elaborate, I remember growing up a lot of people’s dads and grandpa’s could have vintage system that didn’t change for decades, driven by vinyl and CD players.
But I’d imagine a steamer gets fully bricked in that situation. Maybe not, but I just don’t know that those pieces will have 20 year lifespans purely due to software no longer being supported. Just like cellphones.

Re: Mid life crisis,Yea or Nay???
Congrats on the nice find, but absolutely get new tires on there asap. It’s simply not safe whatsoever to try to drive around on tires that old.
You owe it to yourself and the car to get fresh rubber on there. But bottom line is it’s a safety issue.
I suggest a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5.

Re: Class D amps looking much improved
I recently picked up a Fosi v3 for my office rig. That tiny little thing replaced a Mcintosh 4100 pre section going into a Proton d1200 into IMF supercompacts. I'm very impressed with the sound and the fact that it runs a 4ohm load all day and barely even gets warm. So much so that both the Mcintosh and the Proton will be headed for fb marketplace. At around $100 for a 90wpc amp that specs out well it's a no brainer for me to move up to modern class d rather than stay with tired old problematic vintage gear.

Nice! Congratulations!
When are you getting your own car, though? Doesn't look like the '09 is gonna stay yours, if it ever was .
Careful on those old tires. Personally, I'd consider just getting the new ones now. I didn't even know "old tires" was a thing until this dude at work was talking about it for his mostly parked sportscar. Failed state due to old tires, even though they look solid and the vehicle is garage stored.

Re: Mushroom Coffee
Anyone who wants to understand anxiety that has never experienced it needs to watch the movie
Everything everywhere all at once
Is actually an incredible movie if you can make it all the way through but to me it fully captures what anxiety is like.
Anxiety is the worse thing I have had to deal with in my life. It comes out of nowhere most of the time and jus takes over. It's incredibly hard to deal with.
