Re: Class D amps looking much improved
I recently picked up a Fosi v3 for my office rig. That tiny little thing replaced a Mcintosh 4100 pre section going into a Proton d1200 into IMF supercompacts. I'm very impressed with the sound and the fact that it runs a 4ohm load all day and barely even gets warm. So much so that both the Mcintosh and the Proton will be headed for fb marketplace. At around $100 for a 90wpc amp that specs out well it's a no brainer for me to move up to modern class d rather than stay with tired old problematic vintage gear.

Re: Mid life crisis,Yea or Nay???
Nice! Congratulations!
When are you getting your own car, though? Doesn't look like the '09 is gonna stay yours, if it ever was .
Careful on those old tires. Personally, I'd consider just getting the new ones now. I didn't even know "old tires" was a thing until this dude at work was talking about it for his mostly parked sportscar. Failed state due to old tires, even though they look solid and the vehicle is garage stored.

Re: Mushroom Coffee
Anyone who wants to understand anxiety that has never experienced it needs to watch the movie
Everything everywhere all at once
Is actually an incredible movie if you can make it all the way through but to me it fully captures what anxiety is like.
Anxiety is the worse thing I have had to deal with in my life. It comes out of nowhere most of the time and jus takes over. It's incredibly hard to deal with.

Re: Off Topic
I thought I was pretty smart when I was 45 and I saw the episode where Gilligan saw a ghost on the island so I took one of my father's handkerchiefs and draped it over my brother's G.I. Joe and put a rubber band around his neck and had him running around the house chasing and scaring Johnny West and Geronimo and Captain Maddox.
FIXED 🤗✅👍

Re: Desktop tower - i5 v i7
I use Ookla now and then. Usually get around 275 mbs. I pay for 300 so it's pretty good. I'll check out ublock
uBlock will definitely improve your page loading experience. When you set it up, make sure you can see the icon for it at the top. Some browsers hide it by default.
The reason you want the icon is because some web pages won't load properly and you'll need to toggle the uBlock extension for those particular pages. The extension will remember if you turn it off for that page.

Re: Acoustical panels - Good or Bad? What say you?
Tom, I'm glad to hear you found some satisfaction with your panels after working with them for a while! I'm curious, though, did you get GIK's (they are from GIK, right?) input on what your room needed ahead of time? They recommended about 2X the panels I could ever fit in my space since I don't think they really looked at the diagram I submitted to them showing no left or rear walls, but otherwise, their placement recommendations were on point.
I think these panels are about like BH5 in a speaker ... a little goes a long way. But, I'm super-happy with what I have at the moment. I'd like to try (no more than) a couple diffusers to see what they bring to the table, but I think I'm right where I need to be in terms of bass traps.
