about 3 months ago...when i realized after a year of apartment living, my home theater and guitars where being abused.....by not being abused...and the girl and i are SICK of white walls
I've had my sound system up MUCH louder than my guitar playing, but it's the guitar playing that's gotten the complaints. Didn't think my playing was THAT bad, but sometimes I'm changing pickups or finishing an amp build in the wee hours, so they have to be tested.
As for placement, if the right speaker is right smack in the corner it can be an issue, but you may not be able to do anything about that as of now. Center speaker in a boxy cabinet isn't the most desirable either, but if you can't mount it above then you just can't.Polk LSi9 Mains, Polk LSIC Center, Polk RT25i Surrounds, Polk M3II Rear Surround, SVS PB10-ISD Sub, Denon AVR 2809 (as digital pre/pro only), Sony BDP-S350, Oppo DV-981HD, Cambridge Audio Azur 540C (CD), Marantz MM9000 5-ch amp, Outlaw ICBM, Panasonic th-42PX85u HDTV, Behringer BFD Pro, Monster Power HTS 2600 Conditioner -
Speaker placement. They should be a fair distance from the back wall, and side walls. Also, they probably should be farther apart.
I'm sure someone smarter will chime in soon. -

hmm...6 feet apart and the right one is over a foot away from the wall...this is not good enough?Theater: Epson 8500ub, Elite 120" screen, Lsic, Lsi25, Lsifx, SVS Pc12plus, SVS Pc12plus, Emotiva Xpa-5, Denon Avr3311ci, Sony Bdps1000es

well i hate to be "that guy" but i need further advise...i talked to denon, polk, and rotel and every one told me i would not notice a difference at my playing levels...as my denon is pushing about 180-200 at 4 ohms already...they all said my amp was actually pretty decent for my speakers...now...should i look at maybe 300 wpc?...or is it still going to be the same result?Theater: Epson 8500ub, Elite 120" screen, Lsic, Lsi25, Lsifx, SVS Pc12plus, SVS Pc12plus, Emotiva Xpa-5, Denon Avr3311ci, Sony Bdps1000es

At lower volumes, again, not much difference either way...but once you start pushing it up it's very apparent. So if there's no way that you'll listen at, say, -15 to -11 on volume, don't worry about it until you move.Polk LSi9 Mains, Polk LSIC Center, Polk RT25i Surrounds, Polk M3II Rear Surround, SVS PB10-ISD Sub, Denon AVR 2809 (as digital pre/pro only), Sony BDP-S350, Oppo DV-981HD, Cambridge Audio Azur 540C (CD), Marantz MM9000 5-ch amp, Outlaw ICBM, Panasonic th-42PX85u HDTV, Behringer BFD Pro, Monster Power HTS 2600 Conditioner

well i got a chance to listen to a rotel 1075 and a/b'd with a receiver of similar power...at my listening levels i did hear a difference...parts of the music had more detail and the voice that sounded a little muffled with the receiver, became clearer and more enjoyable to hear...soundstage also opened up...so i guess ill be looking for a good deal on one of these babiesTheater: Epson 8500ub, Elite 120" screen, Lsic, Lsi25, Lsifx, SVS Pc12plus, SVS Pc12plus, Emotiva Xpa-5, Denon Avr3311ci, Sony Bdps1000es
