Hi Guys, My name is Bernardo and im a happy costumer from Mexico city.

I have a Honda Accord Coupe 2000 and inside i have:

i have an Alpine 9887 HU
with Polk Audio DB6500 in the front
and Polk Audio DB690 in the back

the 4 of them powered with a 4 channel digital AMP , 100WRMS per channel

Now heres the question..

I dont know anything about Subs, what should i get?

i saw the Polks DB212-2, Those looks nice, but is it the right sub for me?

What type of sound do you want out of your sub system? Looks like you want something that will hit, the DB212-2 will do that. By the way, nice choice on the HU ;).

The Polk DB212 is a very loud box. I would look at a single 12" subwoofer in a sealed enclosure. The Polk SR124DVC will work perfect for what you want. Give it about 750 watts of power and you will be set. It will be a great match for what you already have. Also, The box is only 1.2 cubic feet internally so it will not take up a lot of trunk space.

Agreed....you can get away with what you want from a single sub. There are a good amount of subs that will work just fine. The SR is a good choice. The W6V2 is also a very nice.

Absolutely! The W6 is an excellent choice. Instead of buying two good subs get one great sub.

First of all, thanks a lot for helping me here, i really appreciate it.

i dont care too much about the space in the boot, and i think that the "DB212-2" looks nicer in the trunk, but however i have never hear any of those, and Polk Audio dont have them in stock here (just by pre order).

Also there are not good enclosures here in mexico, its going to be difficult to find a guy who really knows what he is doing, and for an affordable price.

So im really lost here, and you guys are the experts here.

what should be the differences in SQ and SPL between the DBs and the SR, is it a big difference? or a small one?

    thanks again

in Mexico city we dont listen reggeton, thats from south america, and real mexican music is influenced by european music, just the north of mexico is influenced by south america. (soth america is the south of the continent, not the south of the states)

I listen "electronic music" and "classic music", somethimes rock and "easy listening".

and i think that the sealed box for the SR sub is not to big, but the SR in the sealed box is enough for my big trunk?

Once i heard a car with a sub that doesnt rattles and just made a big flow of air, how can i make that? i already have dynamat

On my last trip to South America (Ecuador), they were playing alot of reggeton at the clubs that we went to.

More deadening maybe necessary as well as some sort of anti-rattle material such as rattle pad or overkill.

If u mean power as in how much your going to push into it or how loud it will be in the car, its all preference, i like A LOT of bass, i wana feel it.

for power polk site says Electrical
    Overall Frequency Response 20-200 Hz
    Nominal Impedance 4 ohms
    Power Handling (continuous) 700 w
    Power Handling (peak) 1400 w
    Efficiency 89 dB

Do as it says, at least 700

Take a look around the forums and see what others are running into them.

i dont like the polk momo (i hate MOMO).

and those are rated 400WRMS wich is the same that i have inside the car, so i think that the inside speakers are going to give me more bass than the sub.

i was thinking in 600 to 750W RMS, becouse i like to feel the bass, to make it a complete listening experience.

and i think that the DB212-2 are better option than one momo, dont you think? but you tell me, i really am clueless about subwoofers

You're right, you are clueless about the subs ;) The MOMO series subs are a great sounding sub, they make the DB series sound like dog poo. But, the SR will sound much better, much cleaner, and as it sounds for the quality that you are looking for, this will deliver the power and sound quality you want. All you should need is one in a sealed enclosure wired to 2 ohms, with the PDX-1.600 amp that you had mentioned earlier.

so how can i do that?

the polk SR 124 DVC and the PDX-1.600 Works as you say?
or how can i wired to 2 ohms?

do i have to put 2 pair of cables from the amp to the sub? as it is a DVC to make 2 ohms?

PD: i hate MOMO the italian brand, not Polk MOMO the speakers.

Actually, I just looked at the specs on the PDX-1.600. It is 600W RMS to either 4 or 2 ohms, so you could either get the DVC or the SVC variety. The DVC is wired 2 ohms from the factory, so that wouldn't pose a problem. Alpine underrates their amps, I have an MRD-605 rated at 600W at 2 ohms, but delivers 655W according to the birth sheet. This is still underpowering the SR124, but not by much. For what you are using it for I think this would be fine.

if you want one sub to hit hard and sound excellent look at image dynamics and stereo integrity for some really nice subs. for me one sr12 with 650 watts was not enough, thats why i got another. one stereo integrity mag will get the job done with monster output and some of the cleanest bass out there. dont get me wrong, i love my sr12's, but there are some really great subs out there.
