Charles Leclerc will be wearing a special black race suit in Singapore in a few weeks - that’s the real part of the photo below. The car however, is made-up. That said, I would LOVE to see a black Ferrari livery (or two) on track. Ferrari tends to be VERY conservative with their “special” liveries, which usually play like a game of Where’s Waldo - studying the car to see what’s changed, lol…

The moonrise over HWY 90 in Biloxi last evening

A permanent fixture that watches over Biloxi - one of my favorite photos

    nc3qzbpq7uan.png
Situated in the center median of U.S. 90 and serves as the Biloxi’s signature landmark , a 178 year old iron tower keeps its watch over Biloxi. The Biloxi Lighthouse was raised in 1848, its plates cast in Baltimore and bolted together into one of the first iron lighthouses in the South.

    Notes:
Biloxi, Mississippi was historically known as the "Seafood Capital of the World" in the early 20th century.

Jesse Winchester wrote the song "Biloxi" (often known by its opening line, "Down Around Biloxi"), which was originally released on his self-titled 1970 debut album.

Any guesses what this man from Tucson AZ around 1890 to 1910 had on his pants, what he sold, and his nickname?
    t7scczt1fsrr.png
    “the Peanut Man”
The historic studio portrait of a peanut street vendor in Tucson, Arizona Territory, dating to around 1890. The image is attributed to the photographer Henry H. Buehman...

The man is wearing a jacket and trousers covered in real peanuts in the shell. On the ornate pedestal to his right is a matching peanut-covered hat. In one hand he holds a wicker basket of peanuts; in the other, a thin walking stick. The long hair and beard, painted studio backdrop, and carved column are typical of late-19th-century commercial portrait photography.

A Tucson online post identifies him as P. Beal. A later local-history caption (in Anne Woosley’s Early Tucson) calls him “the Peanut Man,” dates the sitting to 1910, and says he wore a fake beard and wig—so the exact name and year are not fully settled.
    ⁣
    Peanut Butter
In 1884, a Canadian chemist named Marcellus Gilmore Edson patented peanut butter for the first time. According to the patent application, his peanut butter had “a consistency like that of butter, lard, or ointment”. A decade later, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg patented his own version of peanut butter. He differentiated himself by marketing his brand of peanut butter as a nutritious substitute for people who could not chew on meat because of their bad teeth. ⁣
    ⁣
Today in the U.S., peanut butter must contain 90% peanuts, otherwise it must be called a peanut spread. In the Netherlands the word peanut butter is actually against the law because the word butter can only be used for actual butter. So the Dutch decided to call it pindakaas, which literally translates to “peanut cheese”.

A peanut-covered suit would have been a memorable walking billboard on Tucson streets.

The Space Shuttle Endeavour mounted on top of a NASA Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft as it flies over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on September 21, 2012

Today, Endeavour is housed at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, where it’s displayed to inspire future generations. A new exhibit is being constructed to show the shuttle in a full “ready-to-launch” vertical stack, complete with external tank and boosters, the only one of its kind in the world.
