Not bad considering I pay for a $55/mo for a 400Mbps plan. The uploads...yeah, that is an Xfinity thing.

Why do so many of you live near Ping, Mississippi and Jitter, Mississippi?

Funny, but that would end up costing you more per month than most economy Broadband subscriptions when you factor the cost of a traditional copper wire based land line and the ISP (unless you have the free Juno 10hr/month plan). I haven't had a true land line since 2012 and I think when I dropped it, it was at least $50/month with all the fees. Google Voice and an Obi box has kept me with free a home phone # that works with my old Vtech wireless handsets for more than 14 years now. I just have to remember to use it once an awhile otherwise Google tells me they will turn off my number. -

I consistently get high DL speeds, but my UL speeds rarely go over 20. Been consistently that way for a very long time. Doesn't seem to slow anything down though. The fiber infrastructure has been laid to within 125 feet of my neighborhood, but is still years out apparently.

Assuming that is Cable internet? How old is your cable modem? Older ones weren't capable of combining channels for uploads. Newer DOCSIS 3.1 modems have a feature called mid-split and high-split that allow faster uploads if your cable network has been upgraded (which most have been implementing over the last few years). -

Yup. Cable. My modem is less than a month old. TOTL Nighthawk or something like that. We just have the standard plan, with maybe one tier up. I dunno. It's been years since I looked at it.

If that's the case, I guess your provider hasn't updated the system yet. -

Kinda like a high speed train that doesn't go anywhere...

That only took 23 minutes to figure out...So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I'm happy with this for $26.05. It would be $20.05 but I pay $6.00 a month extra for wi-fi security.

My Google Fiber. Fast enough for my needs. Had it over a year now, never had an outage or a glitch.
Speeds shown are probably reduced by the older comm. card in my PC. Their base rate of $70.00/month is for 1 Gig speeds. I pay $80.00/month. Way cheaper and faster than Cox Communications I had previously.
That price includes my landline telephone. -
I get around 800mb download & around 900mb uploads on my 2011 Mac.
We’re on fiber.
Wifi is slower as I’m ethernet directly from the router. -
My 550mbs is good enough for four (4) people in the house to all be streaming a different HD movie/tv program with zero lag. Mind you that doesn’t happen often, but I do know it has happened. Not sure really why I’d ever need anything faster. We are on fiber for $52/ month - blows the pants off xfinity that was $149/month for 15-20mbs….“Human beings are born with different capacities. You must have been one of those long time Xfinity subscribers that they screw over. I have a co-worker who has a combined Xfinity bill for cable/internet/home phone that is over $350. He has fiber options. I've been telling him for years to dump them and get fiber+YouTube TV and ditch the home phone.
I got my ~450Mbps Xfinity plan for $55/month with a 5 year price lock. I'll probably be leaving them after that price lock ends. I'll switch over to T-Mobile 5G (which gave me 700+Mbps) at least long enough to get a new customer price again from Xfinity. -
We had dumped the cable and home phone prior, and just kept the internet until we had fiber to the house.
My problem with xfinity was they’d always over promise and under deliver. We were paying for the 100mbs plan, but never topped 20. And of course, theres language in the fine print that absolves them of the responsibility to deliver what they market…“Human beings are born with different capacities. 100 Mbps plan is $30 now for new customers. But yeah. 20Mbps is pathetic for a plan that was supposed to be 100. I'd have been pissed. -

That's BS and should be illegal, IMO of course.

At pay for 500/500 Verizon at my home. I was going to move it up to 1g up and down but I haven't had a need ever since my son moved out and our data demand isn't as high. I work from home a lot but I don't do a lot of Zoom meetings. Even when I do, no issues with the amount of speed I have now.
They are offering over 1g now and again I see no reason for the extra cost a month for data speeds I have no use at this time for.Dan
