Apologies - I thought we were discussing phones in the United States, where Apple outsells all other phone makers combined…. Further, Apple leads in Japan, The UK, Australia and Canada. Android’s global numbers are (artificially) propped up by India and China, with both countries imposing numerous barriers to “foreign technology” (ie Apple).

You can cherry-pick the stats any which way, but still, the majority of "former Android users" think Android provides a better experience. Also, why would you think this is a "phones in the US" discussion. It's a world-wide market. Don't be myopic.See profile for rigs. Nothing else here.

Oh gee, I don’t know - maybe because the title of the thread is literally “IPhone 17 Pro Max”, and the VAST majority (if not all) of us reside in the United States?
And speaking of “cherry picking” stats, sure, the (slim) majority of former Android users think Android provides a better experience, almost half DON’T - that’s pretty telling…“Human beings are born with different capacities. I have read about that as well just haven't experienced it myself. My last phone the iPhone 15 Pro max, the battery lasted like a day and 1/2 at least. It was just as fast as the day I got it and I only did this upgrade due to the insane price I got for my Pro max which was $1100.00. hard to say no to that.Apple seems to artificially make their older phones have shorter battery lives. This has been documented by some of the tech people. Battery life is always fantastic...until they release the next generation. I bought my son a 15 Plus last summer. Brand new. When the 15 came out, it had stellar reviews for battery life. My son complains the battery is worse than his 13 Plus. Why? Because Apple deprecated the battery because it is now 3 generations old (with the 18 release) even though its 1.5 years of use. My Galaxy S24+ is now 2.5 years old and I rarely see the battery under 50% in a day's use.Dan

My Galaxy S24+ is now 2.5 years old and I rarely see the battery under 50% in a day's use.
I doubt there’s truth to that particular conspiracy theory. My wife still uses her 12 with no issues, as does my daughter. There is no denying that new batteries last longer, but this is universal. People who game extensively or live on social media clearly deplete the max battery life more quickly. I have a 17, and it possesses many new features to preserve battery life - kind of an odd thing to do if you’re trying to artificially age-out batteries.
By the same token, my brother-in-law is a diehard Samsung guy, and he experiences very rapid (<2year) battery degradation… it just depends on how you use (and charge) your devices…
I think there could be some solid truth to that. For me I didn't charge my phone on a ny regular basis. When it got low , I plugged it in and not much later it was full charge. I think people who are power users and charge more than once a day might experience these lack of battery power.Dan

Dell, HP, and Lenovo all probably sell more computers each year by themselves.
BTW, I'm not an Apple hater. I have two AppleTV 4K boxes and my main computer is a Mac Mini. I tried an iPhone back around 2021 and after less than 6 months, I switched back to Android. I don't care if my messages are green.

I am the polar opposite Dan - I started with the 4s, which is still my favorite for overall size. I also liked the fact that I could replace the battery in it by myself (which I did several times). I dropped it more times than I can count (once off the top of a 12’ ladder to the concrete floor), accidentally sent it into the washing machine (my wife saw the screen through the glass of the door after about 5 mins and pulled it out - did the rice trick and it ran another 2 years). Eventually it became too much of a dinosaur, and I went to the 12 mini. This one lived a troubled life too, going into the bar sink at the Star restaurant in Elko NV, falling into a bucket of drywall mud, and taking a quick trip into the north fork of the Flathead river in my pocket (I was too busy saving my camera to worry about my phone). The 12 mini died last year when I dropped it while working in Tucson - it just wouldn’t charge, so I upgraded to the 16 plus.
When my 12 died, I could luckily replicate most functions on my iPad, but it was a moment that made me realize just how interwoven these devices have become in our lives. Here I was 900 miles from home, and my phone holds all my contacts, my airplane boarding pass, my rental car reservation, my expense account reporting, my alarm clock, gps, and on and on.
I hate changing phones - if Apple had continued updating the 4s, I’d probably still be using it (and changing batteries!). I had a coworker several years ago that maintained two (2) phones, their contracts 12 months offset, so that he could upgrade every year with whichever phone was at the 2 year mark…“Human beings are born with different capacities. I hear yeah on not wanting to keep upgrading. Each upgrade is so small sometimes. I stopped getting a new one every year and started hopping models as the current model I was using like the 11 or 15 Pro max's where so small of an upgrade. Hell my new 17 pro max was a pretty small upgrade over the 15 , The battery does last a lot longer and I really like that.Dan
