    exactly.
Reminds me of the classic experiments of Roger Sperry on "chemical imprinting" (edit) "chemoaffinity" using frogs. The image projected onto the retina in an eyeball is, of course, upside down. If one flips they eyeball upside down (surgically) and also severs the optic nerve (which, in a frog or tadpole, can regenerate), does the regenerated nerve "see" the eye as inverted or not? Turns out, the experimental subjects saw the world upside down after the nerves regenerated! Classic developmental biology stuff -- my wife has a background in developmental biology

So... this foot guy... someone could do the same sort of experiment on him.

We have two tranches of plastic bags stuffed into other plastic bags.
One tranche is to use to line trash cans.
The other tranche is set aside to take to the store and put in a container they have there, hoping that the store will magically find a way to recycle them. This, I believe, is called virtuecycling. :#

Maybe. I think everyone would have been certain that you had expired coupons as well. :p

Yep all 15 here to and the one I'm most proud of isn't listed. My precious 5 gallon pail full of plumbing and compressed air fittings. I've known for a long time I won't ever use any of them but there they are within my grasp in just a few seconds.

It's all useless until you throw it out. Then you'll suddenly need that odd fitting.
15 years years and you missed it by a week. So you buy another pack at the
hardware store and start the process over again.

I raid my tubs of random saved fasteners at least 6 times a year. I really wish I had leftover paint for the house I'm in. So many little scuffs that could be touched up. Mixing a new batch will never match. I have at least three old, unused android phones and probably have an old Moto RAZR somewhere. I use my old Pixel 3 every time I use the smoker to run the app for my wireless temp probe. Wood scraps always get used at some point. About the only things I don't do are keeping expired coupons, or half filled note books. I try to purge keys if I know the lock is gone or destroyed, but there might be a few in the bottom of my key jar.

There's an ugly corollary to this. When you know that you have one, or some, of [insert name or description of thing you need], but it's quicker & easier to go to Home Despot and buy more of them than to locate the one(s) you know you already have.
I am, of course, speaking hypothetically.

Living in this house and having sheds and then a cottage, per se, I've had that thought so many times!

I needed an 18mm socket or wrench for my rear shocks. My reg. tool collection didn't go above 15mm. I have a few cans and socket bars full of sockets scattered around in two buildings. No luck with those.

I was about to go buy one and looked a little more. I found one loose in a tool cabinet drawer just seconds before I was going to leave. B) Why it was in there is anybody's guess!

I saved it, thinking I would need it (MAYBE) at some point in time if I lived long enough. Where I got it...who knows! This will probably be the ONLY time in my life I would've needed it. ;)

    Thank you, LORD! :D

We're seeing a few other colors blooming now. It's been a great start to summer watching these Glads grow and bloom. Our Crepe Myrtles are starting to bloom now, too. We need more RAIN, though! Heavy rains really help to make giant blooms on them. I do water the lawn below them often, but that doesn't begin to match what Mother Nature provides!

And somewhere @Tony M, some dude has a project on hold, half completed for weeks, or years, maybe, perpetually about to go to the store for an 18mm socket, toiling, "I KNOW I have one, I just don't know where the #$%* it could have gone!" :DB)
