OK... don't start with me, for I am a biologist. Diplomas and everything to prove it...
so, yeah, this isn't, technically, a bird.
Still, I was actually rather pleased to see it hanging out (literally) on our porch screen* this evening as the darkness deepened.

Shortly afterwards, it went off to work. 😎

I bet that Plymouth floated down the highways.
And at 10 mpg.

Pretty cool. A lot of bats will hunt on my street just before sundown cleaning the airways of mosquitos and other flying pests.

Put a bat-box up. We have around 40+ living in this right now. I put another box on my home's gable a couple of years ago, but no bats yet. We did see two bat turds on the ground base plate under it a month ago, but no turds since.

Our neighbors across the street put one up a year or two ago. They bought a kit. Pole included. They said it was $$$$. They have bats in their box now, too. So I guess it's giving $$ in returns now.

Semper Fi Bar and Grille in Woodstock Georgia
Sometimes an important idea just works. This restaurant started in an old ugly building on the edge of an outdated shopping center. There were numerous attempts of people trying different restaurant ideas as I watched for many years as I drove past the location. Then I noticed the restaurant was moving to a new location.
Today, I saw this story about a regular visitor to the restaurant
A 106-year-old WWII veteran shows up almost every day at 1 p.m. in Woodstock
Mr. Charlie Duncan is 106 and served in World War II.
He’s a familiar face at Rally Point Grille / Semper Fi Bar and Grille, where veterans and first responders are honored daily and where he’s welcomed like family.
He recently met Gavin, a 10-year-old who takes time to recognize and thank veterans in his own way.
Two generations, separated by more than a century of life, connected through respect.
Mr. Charlie is about to turn 107!
Rally Pointe is planning a birthday party for him next week!
He’s known, he’s loved, and he’s always appreciated.

Rally Point Grille is a military-themed restaurant and bar that honors veterans and first responders. Founded in August 2015 as "Semper Fi Bar and Grille," the concept was created by U.S. Marine veterans Ralph and Carrie Roeger. The restaurant remains family-owned, with their daughter, Samantha Roeger, heavily involved, and all locations feature an extensive collection of military memorabilia and hearty American fare.
To reflect a broader, more inclusive environment for all branches of the military and first responders, the founders rebranded the original location from Semper Fi to Rally Point Grille.
The Georgia-based business has grown significantly across the state. The original Woodstock location remains highly active, and they have expanded with a location in East Ellijay alongside a franchised location in Evans (Augusta area).
In partnership with the Robert Irvine Foundation, the brand launched a food truck program to help veterans train to become franchisees through the "Veteran Pathway to Ownership™" initiative."Sometimes you have to look to the past to understand where you are going in the future"Harry / Marietta GA -
