Well I finally got around to picking up another REL S812 sub.

Yeah it took me awhile but it will be here next week. With this new addition it brings my total REL subs to 4. I know I'm slacking!

Two S812's for combo 2 channel & HT. Hooked up with both hi level directly off the amp & LFE coming from the Yammie AVR.

Single T/5x for center speaker. Tapped directly to the positive speaker terminal (twisted red & yellow wires together & float the ground black wire. Strictly used for HT duty.

Single HT 1205 MKII strictly for HT with LFE directly from the Yammie AVR.

Things are looking up. Only 2 more T/5x to go for surround speakers. Not happening anytime soon though.

I forgot to mention that the LCR are all set to large (I know that's a no no!) & all surrounds are set to small w/ 80hz xo. I've been running it that way for awhile now with just the one S812 & the single T/5x (center speaker) for HT & I am quite happy with the performance over all speakers set to small.

Now with the addition of the new S812 in the mix that completes my front end speakers each set-up with there own sub. This will be a total game changer for the HT experience.

I know the general consensus is to simply set all speakers to small at 80hz xo but I'm now I don't agree with that assumption after what I'm hearing.

And of course the 2 channel experience will definitely be kicked up a few notches with the addition of the new S812.
Next up possibly 2 more T/5x for the rear surrounds. If I pull that off then I'll be out of room for any other additions.

You're doing it the right way for REL subwoofers using both the high level and LFE (which is adjustable in the subwoofer). If you weren't using the LFE input for surround (with subwoofers in the system) you'd be missing the .1 from movie soundtracks.

Congrats on getting the second 812!

We need to live closer together. I'd swap you my T/5xs for the Magnepans, plus go up to T/7xs.

Yeah for the REL 3D set-up you need a minimum of 3 subs across the front stage LCR. With the new S812 coming I'll have that completed.

The key here is to have the LCR all set to large. I'll have to duck for cover with that one LOL!
The only way this works is because of the way REL's are designed to work with both hi-level & .1 LFE simultaneously. Each having there own set of filters, XO settings & gain controls.

The beauty here is for 2 channel I simply turn the TV & Yammie off, change the JC2 BP preamp to HT Bypass, turn on the DAC (NewOnTech 07) & the ModWright Analog Bridge. I sometimes leave the DAC & Bridge on because of the pass thru features. Now the only subs active are the 2 S812 via there hi-level connections.

This will be a lot of fun setting this up.

Just got the notification that delivery is scheduled for Saturday. Once set up it will take me a little while to recalibrate the system for both 2 channel & HT. Once finished I'll report back on the REL HT 3D setup. The 2 channel will also be kicked up a few notches with the second S812 addition. A lot of fun awaits!

Yes indeed... starting the recalibration process tomorrow. A lot of fun for sure. Treading into uncharted waters with this new setup, REL HT 3D with the 3 subs across the L/C/R front end & the single HT 1205MKII in the rear.

Got you covered! So far I'm liking what I'm hearing. Still more calibration to do. With this setup you have to calibrate the high level & LFE separately for both venues. A little more complex for sure.

If you want your ears to blowup that will certainly do it. That can't be at all enjoyable!

That's stooopid...hearing damage and pain start at 120dB. I mean, is everyone going to bring hearing protection? I can understand the enjoyment of the thumb in your chest, but hearing damage isn't reversible.
