Can anyone suggest some budget R2R DAC's?

What do you consider "budget?" The Denafrips Ares II can now be found for $500 or less. Some consider that an excellent starting point, or even a good enough ending point...me included.
Edit: the II version is probably still closer to $500.Post edited by billbillw at -

H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Not confronting....but what was meant by this statement? All I am saying is that I could care less about build quality and technical babble....all I care about is the end result as to what hits my ears. This statement has been true on this forum and others since almost (or well over) 2 decades ago.
So, am I feeling okay? You bet.
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~
