"Der Self-Satisfiedkrauttenwagen winner at the 2025 California Concours d'Lemons was Andrew Hancock from Fremont, CA with his 1971 VW ThinBug. The car was modified by taking a slice out of the middle of the car lengthwise, turning it into a single wide, tandom seat configuration. The work was exceptionally well done, which just goes to show that Andrew was so preoccupied with whether or not he could, he didn't stop to think if he should. But we are glad he did. A well deserved award."

"Walkaround photo album of my (Oleg Sapunkov) full size 3D printed replica 11 inch Model 1861 Dahlgren Gun.

The complete replica is 4.0 meters (13.1 feet) long, 800 mm (31.5 in) in maximum diameter, 1.0 meters (3.3 feet) at maximum width (with the trunnions). It took 96 kilograms (211 pounds) of PLA to 3D print, with 98 spool changes, each of which was accompanied by a nozzle cleaning procedure using nozzle needles and a cold pull, which took around 20 minutes each time. The replica took a total of 1644 hours to 3D print, or 68.5 days of continuous printer time - not counting the nozzle cleanings, or the electronics enclosure fan cleanings I did for the printer between the completion of each major part."

Must be a large 3D printer.

To fire it, you have to use 3D printed balls and ammo, and have what you are printing to do it. :D

Frank listening to Altec Lansing speakers:

    dv1tkx7dxupq.png

Most of that generation heard themselves in or near the studio/control room that way.
I will say that the recordings monitored, mixed, or mastered on Altecs do sound very good indeed when played back on Altecs. B)
EDIT: And a little beyond that generation, too

Oh -- of course -- unless they were RCA artists and/or recording in RCA studios.
Then they heard themselves on RCA LC-1A coaxes -- which are also quite sublime. Many would say even better than Altec Duplexes. Duplexes are easier to find and less expensive today -- but the RCAs are very, very special. :p
