Four years ago Eleven Madison Park, a three-Michelin-starred New York restaurant named best in the world in 2017, shocked the fine-dining sphere with an entirely plant-based menu. This week, its chef and owner, Daniel Humm, announced a U-turn: from mid-Oct, meat and seafood will return at the vaunted Manhattan establishment.
“Eating together is the essence of who we are, and I’ve learned that to truly champion plant-based cooking, I need to create an environment where everyone feels welcome around the table.”
Meat-eaters, it seems, were put off by the meatless approach. Humm told the New York Times he hadn’t realized he “would exclude people” by going vegan.___________________________________________

Undoubtably that 8 year run has a lot to do with it's NY location. They wouldn't have made it 8 weeks in Texas. -
I think 8 weeks is a stretch lol 😂- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Inaugural run of Amtrak Mardi Gras service delayed by errant trucker
by Brad GuntherMon, August 18th 2025 at 5:15 PM
Updated Tue, August 19th 2025 at 10:40 AM__________________________________________Amtrak service returned to the Gulf Coast this morning with excitement, and a delay.
A truck in Gulfport became stuck on a crossing causing a 45-minute delay in the trains arrival in New Orleans.
A sign at the crossing warns of low ground clearance.
The delay affected both the westbound and eastbound trains, with the New Orleans to Mobile train arriving 35 minutes late."Sometimes you have to look to the past to understand where you are going in the future"Harry / Marietta GA

Subscription-based everything is the (near) future. So many companies cannot generate revenue by increasing new or repeat unit sales, but they can generate revenue more or less in perpetuity by essentially selling consumers the license to a product and charging a monthly fee to maintain or upgrade access to/use of the product.
When Microsoft goes to a subscription model for Windows (and they will, sooner or later), I'm (back) to Linux, full time!

I have a new Apple MacBook Air Laptop as of two weeks ago.
I am in the process of putting Linux on my desktop.

Agree and, Toyota is using remote access to shut off your Toyota should you miss car payments.
That just amazes me coming from 60's & 70's vehicles. -
This doesn't surprise me. Have you seen how young truck drivers are these days?BlueBirdMusic wrote: »

My brother (not young at all) has been a long-haul trucker for decades. He tells a story of going through a re-certification a while ago, and a young 'certifier' was in the truck with him...giving instructions. Eventually, my brother had enough, turned to the guy and said, "Dude, I've driven more miles backwards than you have forwards, so just shut-up and let me do this.""This may not matter to you, but it does to me for various reasons, many of them illogical or irrational, but the vinyl hobby is not really logical or rational..." - member on Vinyl Engine

As much as I despise the shift towards subscription based features in vehicles, this seems like the absolute best and most satisfying use of this technology, IMO.
Pay for your stuff and you don't have issues.

GPS tracking and remote kill switch is very common for high risk borrowers.. Nothing to see there and it's not just Toyota- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

The laminate flooring was installed, and the toilet was removed, so it wasn't in the way. A few hours later, the carpet was installed...

I agree with the spirit of this argument 100%. My issue is abuse of the same tech. For example, during to c@vid lockdowns - the government doesn’t want you traveling? Easy - just lean on the car companies to lock everyone (except the ruling class, of course) out of their bought/paid for transportation.

^^^^Looks like they were going to knock out that curb to fix the puddle. The blade doesn't look bent or worn out and they're not cheap. What am I missing here?
