These are pretty sweet speakers. I had a set. Liked them and never did a thing to them and they still had a very nice sound. Found on M.P. No idea about the condition.

    No affiliation. On FB Marketplace.
Don't see these early ones often around here.

The ad's photo of the front of the speakers (not shown) looked like a stock image with grills on.

I'm not well-versed on the first gen. SDA's. I'm sure these each have two tweeters.
Might have two front port holes, they may be covered also.

I thought the speaker wire was a cobweb at first.

Didn't some of these early ones have fuses above the binding posts?

    I paid $400.00 for my SDA 1C's a dozen years ago. These's aren't a real bargain IMO.

    Thanks Ivan for answering!

I just looked in the SDA Handbook. The ad I posted are 1A's, I thought they were in the first gen.

The 1A's are actually in the second gen. with the only other 2nd gen. speaker being the first SDA SRS.

The first gen. was only the SDA 1 (no A) and the SDA 2. The first gen. used SL-1000 tweeters and the second gen. used the SL-2000's.

That handbook is a great reference.

SDA1a had no ports nor fuses. The SDA1 had ports and fuses. The SDA1 signature had no ports BUT did have fuses.

    Ports?

I never noticed! I guess they're tuned so that the PR is still effective?

The push test doesn't apply to these SDAs?

Well that's one strong opinion and from what I have seen here over a few years now good advice if @Toolfan66 says so. 3000.00 May as well ask 10,000.00.

Screw him. I think I can safely say he just pissed off everyone here. Good luck with any support from this site.

Top two mid-woofers were in separate interior enclosure. Bottom two bass drivers and passive radiator were in the bottom enclosure.

Thanks for the info, learned something new today.

Just asking, but now that the Legend L800 has been discontinued, do they qualify as vintage?

I don't think anybody is going to let any of the speakers that have the wiggly waves on them be vintage too soon.

Seems to be some consensus that "vintage" means 25 years or older. Which would make anything before 2000 classified as vintage. "Antique" means 100 years or older (except maybe for cars, which might be "antique" at 25 years. So my Pioneer SX-1250 and my Polk SDA 2B Studios are vintage, but I usually think of them as "classic." I personally like to refer to myself as "midcentury modern."

    No Affil.

Anyone in the midwest, plains, central U.S. looking? These appear to be stock.
Asking price seems slightly higher than average in my opinion.

Yep I bet it's a treat to listen to. Nice to see things for sale in their environment as well, not just a pair of speakers on a table like a lot of sellers in my area.
