If it has foam around it, it's either a SL2500 or a SL3000.
-
Weird. These are the original SL3000s in my RTA 15TLs. Thus, why I thought the domes back then were all silver.

Shows ya what I know! I thought all the tweeters from back in the day had silver domes. When I saw the black ones on these I assumed they had to be the 194 or 198 replacements. Thanks for the correction! Not as good a deal then.
Still a good deal for someone considering their condition and the SL2500 is a pretty good tweeter.Gustard X26 Pro DAC

Most of the sl2500 I've seen have been black, however the sl3000 can be one 3 colors, silver, goldish or black chrome like. It all depended on on which order the metals were vaporized on the domes. That is what I was lead to believe by a long ago member here who I no longer remember who it was.
I have however have seen all 3 versions. -

Ditto, the other nice thing is the SL2500 can be replaced with the RD-0198

Unusual to see those tweets in those speakers. I had no idea they ever used those in the smaller speakers like that. 10,s, 7, 5 and such. It would have tricked me too. Would have probably thought that someone put the wrong tweets in from another set of Polks or something. That is a nice set of speakers. I hope you get them and get a good deal on them too.

I may have used up any goodwill I had here with all the help I got from various members on my RTAs, since I would feel like I needed to repeat that process to bring these up to snuff, also. All the good comments about 5s still has me thinking about it, though. I will be passing by them a number of times in my travels the next few weeks. We shall see …

LOL, I still haven’t found a home for @ALL212’s L100s I got from him a year ago. This place ships, so they could be yours just as easy! 😜

I know, 7s are sweet! But, some 5s with the VH treatment would be pretty cool, too, you gotta admit! 🤔😉😝

I also have a pair of 5's that I bought about 8 years ago. Although mine aren't as nice they were considerably less. I bought them for 30 dollars.

I originally got into Polk in the 80’s when I got my Monitor 10’s. I still listen to them daily in my basement office. My 5’s are a part of the bedroom system. I have some 7’s but something isn’t right with them. Someday I’ll look into them. My actual office has some M12’s. My main system in the den has the SDA 3.1’s. The 3.1’s replaced the RTA 12c’s in my main system. Oh yea I have some 4’s on the shelf too. Hi my name is Glenn and I have a problem. Im addicted to Polk’s from the 80’s.HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

I have a few Polk audio speakers myself. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

These are pretty sweet speakers. I had a set. Liked them and never did a thing to them and they still had a very nice sound. Found on M.P. No idea about the condition.

Don't see these early ones often around here.
The ad's photo of the front of the speakers (not shown) looked like a stock image with grills on.
I'm not well-versed on the first gen. SDA's. I'm sure these each have two tweeters.
Might have two front port holes, they may be covered also.
I thought the speaker wire was a cobweb at first.
Didn't some of these early ones have fuses above the binding posts?
I paid $400.00 for my SDA 1C's a dozen years ago. These's aren't a real bargain IMO. -
SDA1a had no ports nor fuses. The SDA1 had ports and fuses. The SDA1 signature had no ports BUT did have fuses.
