    Joy of Cooking: Joy of Cooking
    Capitol ST-661 {LP, stereo, 1971}
    Led by pianist Toni Brown and guitarist Terry Garthwaite, Joy of Cooking combined rock, folk, blues, and jazz. The band's music was "a mix of hippie sensibilities" and their lyrics "often reflected feminist themes." They recorded three albums on Capitol, and both Toni Brown and Terry Garthwaite pursued solo careers after the band disbanded. Toni Brown later earned a master's degree in clinical psychology and founded a non-profit transitional house for disadvantaged youth. She died in 2022. Terry Garthwaite continues to record and teach music and conduct vocal retreats.

    I wanted to take a moment and respect the original "What Are You Listening To?" thread.
    I've had mixed feelings about starting a new thread. As far as I can tell, it was the oldest 'active' thread in The Clubhouse. It went back to February 2004 and has posts from so many great members that have passed or moved on. It is a real piece of history for this forum. If there is a way for Masimo or Vanilla to fix that old thread, and merge this, that would be the best scenario.
    I doubt it will happen, but maybe...

    For most fans, this was worth the 13 year wait. (Entire Album)
    I'm one of them. I don't listen to this often enough. A lot has happened since I first heard Undertow. They are still one of the first to mind when someone asks about favorite bands.

    That YouTube recording shows how awesome they are in concert for sure, but it doesn't have the imaging and impact of the CD recording. Seek it out if you like the sound. I'm sure the Qobuz or Tidal versions are as good as the CD.

    Had that tape on long play for quite a while back in the early college days. I need to get another copy since the tape was destroyed years ago.

    I did a quick look and seems prices are all over the place for the LP.
