Having been in Plumbing repair for 7 years, I'm shocked that pump worked for the past 5 years.
Coastal living is hell on metals.Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

Lose lose, where ever you are (unless you are in the middle). Our vehicles up here rust so fast because of all the salt used in the winter and you guys get hit all year round with sea salt. -

I used to have a metal cigar tube full of dimes.
Why?
Absolutely no reason -- other than the fact that dimes fit in it.
Dimes are the weirdest coins of 'em all (at least in the US). They're smaller than pennies... but they're an order of magnitude more valuable.
... and I don't know if I am channeling Stephen Wright or Jerry Seinfeld in this post.

Wow! You must be close to the water. Salt water mist is hell on metal. You should consider building an enclosure. The junction box should be sealed too. I was having issues with mine once and found out frogs were getting into my junction box and getting fried. ^^^^ WOW. I just when through Holger's Flickr pages. He has some way cool old stuff, probably very rare. Mark what are the units in the photo you posted? Amplifiers for those large old Altec-Lansing Voice of the Theatre horn speakers? Designed for commercial use? Thx.

Pretty sure those are Western Electric amplifiers.
The story of WE, Altec, and JBL (and some other great names of the era) is tied inextricably to the development of the talkies -- and is absolutely fascinating.
Their scientists and engineers literally wrote the book(s) on acoustical engineering and the accurate reproduction of sound.
He photographs a lot of folks' hardware, and is a regular attendee of get-togethers like the annual (AFAIK) European Triode Festival (ETF).

I've been wanting to cash in my piggy bank for a while as it was nearly full and finally got around to it today. I guessed I had around $60 in it and was shocked that there was over $124 in it, and after paying Coinstar's fees I netted $110. It's the first time I've ever used Coinstar and while I didn't like paying the fees, it beats rolling that much change. Plus most local bank's lobbies are currently closed anyhow. Only problem was the machine doesn't accept Canadian coins and spit them out, though I only had about $3 in Canadian coins.
Its easy to get rid of dimes. The trick is to start out with a few dollars worth of them every day with no other coins. Then every purchase you make pay the change just in dimes. I don't like being the guy in line making everyone wait while I count out change but dimes are easy. And even the most challenged cashiers can usually get the number of dimes you give them right the first time counting. Save all of the nickles and pennies you get back for the machine.
Another trick........every time you walk by a coin machine check the reject bin. My son does this and he says he finds coins at least 30% of the time. Usually they are foreign coins but occasionally he will find pre 1964 silver coins. They are rejected by the counter. -

There's a coin*star machine next to a scratch-off machine we get tickets at. When I join my wife on some trips, I ALWAYS check that reject bin.
I have maybe 50 foreign coins from there. Why I save em...I don't know.
When I was about 12, my mom would give me the silver dimes she got in change. She also let me look through the other change for coins I needed to fill my coin books up with. Those were the good-ol days for sure. memories.
