    ^^^^ never thought of that! My brother has one, but he's in Maryland. It also has a well, but has been on city water for probably 60 years. Owner knew nothing about this old disconnected well in the basement.

    That's a great grey owl. If memory serves, it's the largest North American owl (at least continental US).
    We had one nearby in Hanover, NH a few years back -- Mrs. H and a friend tromped through a swamp at dusk on a chilly fall evening (I think it was 2014) to see it -- which they did.
    Usually they're in MN and WI.

    So -- Mrs. H just went back and checked her records. She saw a superb fairywren, but not a splendid fairywren. Apparently, she'd have had to have gone (how's that for a tense?) further inland to see the splendid one.

    The left top three could be, The Early Spring False Morel (Verpa Bohemica).

    Those 3 in the top left are half free morels (Morchella Punctipes), called peckerheads.

    The Verpas have a pithy stem and the stem is connected at the very top of the cap.

    LOL! Not to worry. They don't kill you right away. The toxin in them is cumulative (in the liver). Like an aneurysm, just one day... POW complete liver failure! Gotta go somehow, right?
