I hope this stuff works. I was genuinely perplexed, I thought my Grundig was melting or something. Thanks to the internet I know I am not the only one with this problem.

Your Grundle?
-
@Clipdat no, it's a cool little radio that the manufacturer coated with some compound that over time turned into schmutz. It's so sticky that you have to wash your hands after touching it.
-
I hate that schmutz, I know exactly what you're talking about.
-
You have one of the affected radios? Evidently it was a pretty widespread problem affecting many models.

Not familiar with that particular radio, but am familiar with things getting that sticky schmutz on them after several years.
-
Really? I never saw anything like this before. Someone in one of those links said it was to provide a good grip. Mine is so sticky you almost have to shake it off of your hand to put it down.

Yeah, what Dave said. Also, careful because it can stain or discolor metal if you use it full strength or leave it sitting too long.I disabled signatures.

Be careful, if it stays purple for more than four hours call 911.2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.
Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.
The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
