    When I said 1, it means that if a friend ask me over for dinner, the only this I would turn down would be the liver.

    There are items that I don’t buy or eat due to being in a can, or just not on my mind to eat

    Canned tuna...if I’m out camping etc

    Sushi at least once a month, oysters every season, snails sure as a restaurant app. Etc

    2 - raw fish & tofu. Don't seem to be many offal fans here. I was brought up eating calve's liver and onions, stuffed lambs hearts and pig's kidneys (kidneys as a part of breakfast or a mixed grill). Tripe I left to the heathens in the north of England. My mother's rendition of liver was, however, of the flour dredged boot leather kind, and it was only when I had liver in a French restaurant that I realized how delicious and melt in your mouth it could be, so I learnt how to cook it like that.

    I can eat mayonnaise as an ingredient in something, but a huge spoonful of it would make me gag. Maybe it's a textural thing. Generally I like my fish cooked (fried catfish sandwich anyone?), but I do like ceviche and will eat sushi. At one point I would have said escargot, but a chef friend shamed me into trying one he had prepared years ago and I ended up eating them like popcorn - they're good if you like shellfish and can get past the snail thing. It's getting past the snail thing...

    As far as eating at other people's houses, I listed things I wouldn't eat if I didn't have to. If I was at somebody's house, I could choke down most of my 17 (not including snails, oysters, raw fish, and eggs, along with a few more.) :)

    edit: With a recount, there are ten things I couldn't choke down; eggs, snails, oysters, cucumbers/pickles, raw fish, liver, Brussel sprouts, and raisins. The other seven things I wouldn't eat if I was given a choice, but I would if I had to. :)

    I score a 0. One of my favorites on the list is escargots. My wife wouldn’t eat them at gunpoint! Let’s add tripe to the list!! Yum! I have tripe whenever I see it on the menu. About 3 months ago, I went out to lunch with my 99 year old aunt,and I ordered the tripe. She saw how much I was enjoying it, and she asked to try some. Afterward,I asked her if she liked it. Her response was,”I tried it”. Lol!

    I score a 0 too! Surprised actually, as my palate is not super sophisticated. But I've tried a lot of schieze! Almost a waste on the Mrs cooking, as she makes some excellent dishes. Vietnamese dishes are some of the most sophisticated and subtly delicious meals out there!

    Traveled a lot, and ate some, well, unusual stuff. Never ate BATS though. But a chicken salad in Japan with raw chicken, steak tartare (liver variation) in Germany, frog eggs in China, and a Mexican dish made from insects, are probably the most extreme.

    Oh boy, now just remembering all that, now I have to go back to therapy! :smile:

    They are most nommy, but it's mostly the garlic, truth be told :)

    When I was in Israel once, long ago, I was taken to an "Oriental restaurant". Turns out, this is Israeli-speak for Arab food. It was a fantastic meal -- but the best thing were skewered, grilled cubes of meat (for lack of a better word) that were (at least) as rich and flavorful as filet mignon, but far more tender. My host wouldn't tell me what it was until after I tried it. Any one care to guess? (It's nothing too disgusting, but a little off the beaten path, at least for a good ol' boy from Brooklyn Park, MD)

    I ate some weird things in Japan, most of which were actually pretty good. One thing that wasn't good was raw octopus. The issue wasn't taste -- it was like eating a hunk of rubber; virtually un-chewable. I also had smoked octopus, which was amazing.
