The earliest Polk Audio "mass market" advertisement I have found to date -- from the April 1974 edition of the late and much lamented Audio magazine.

Polk Advertisement - Audio Magazine - December 1977

The tone arms must not have sold well, don't hear much about them.

The Mayware Formula IV was a nice arm but my recollection is it was very low mass; it'd be all but useless with today's lower-compliance cartridge craze.

I don't think Polk was the importer/distributor for them for very long -- could be wrong about that, though.

So -- are "we" waiting at this point for sightings (auditions) of the L800s in the field (so to speak)?

    Chatter's died down. :(

I wonder if Polk Audio will post the nitty-gritties if the design like they used to years ago. They used to have the "Advanced Technical Info" sheets, the news letter and the "Technology" and "Audio Education" links on their web site, not to mention the product archive. They used to show nice cut-aways of the cabinets and describe the drivers in very good detail. Ah the good old days...
