Yep - the western eye wall is stalled basically right over the neighborhood where my parents have a home. Going to be much worse when the eastern eye wall hits since they’re on the south coast of the island...they are all block homes where their house is and they are about 10-15 feet above sea level, so fingers crossed. Reports from their friends there say the storm surge from the north is as high as 20’... they said the airport is under water. Prayers to the permanent residents.

Abaco took a beating yesterday but it’s now moving five times slower over Grand Bahama.

Thanks guys. Dont forget about NotaSuv. He is just a hop skip and a jump away. (20min north) I think we will be fine as long as it does not take a direct path to us and sit like it has in the Bahamas.

What we are getting right now is no worse than the usual evening storms.

Didn't Prince have a song about the sky being purple?

Our Coast Guard is already on the ground in the most affected parts of the Bahamas providing emergency food and medevac capability.

I remember being in a hotel on Guam some years ago when a typhoon went somewhat nearby. That's a pretty common event there. The wind got up to about 80 mph at its worst and it made the same sound as in the video above through the reinforced windows. Eerie reminder. Not nearly as bad back then as in the Bahamas though!

The wind is starting to pick up a bit here. We've never lost power for more than a few hours during a hurricane before, so hopefully, we can continue that lucky streak. If we do lose power, we live in between counties (AKA, exactly nowhere, relatively speaking) so it could be more than a week before we get it back.

I'll be praying for all of you other FL Polkies (And the Bahamas!), stay safe y'all!!

I've always thought the goal of high-end audio was not to have your neighbors bang on the wall and say, 'Turn that darn music down' but to have your neighbors bang on the wall and say, 'Tell your friends to go home and you can practice later this week'.
