Just watched some aerial footage from the Bahamas. The destruction is unreal. One thing that always amazes me is how some houses appear untouched, yet others are completely destroyed and they can be right next to each other.Political Correctness'.........defined

So far, as the storm runs up the coast of FL just a rain event with some wind gusts up to 40/50 mph. Storm is heading to St. Augustine and Jacksonville. The issue can be with flooding during high tides... All in all not so bad. The beaches may get beat up a bit.My New Year's resolution is 3840 × 2160

We did not get much rain at all. Still a bit windy. We probably had 50-60 mph gusts.
Power was only out for about 10 min. I dont see any damage to the neighborhood.

Path creeps very slightly toward us (Wilmington) with each 3hr update. Hoping it'll be breaking up and accelerating by the time the bigger north side winds out of the east reach us.
Southport, Bald Head, Kure, and Wrightsville may be in for a big surge due to proximity - timing will be critical. As it stands now, the winds would be pushing water up into Kure Beach around low tide, and Cape Lookout and Atlantic Beach would be in greater risk of direct hit surge and eyewall winds. We were already having king tides around the new moon <gulp>. Praying the two big dune ridges hold.

Thanks, all good here in town. Had several tornadoes in the area and lots of rain; but fairly calm - no trees down, still have power. Kure Beach made it through high tide without overwash, so I'm optimistic we'll make it through without surge flooding. With the recent due east jog, we might avoid eyewall winds.
