Is it lightning strikes that cause those fires you speak of?

Not that anyone asked :p but -- This is the worst time of year for brush fires in New England. The weather turns warm and dry, and there's lots of dead brush and foliage from the winter that's ready to burn as it dries out. In May and into June, it's pretty common to see small fires along the freeways up here.

We've had Chickadees for a few weeks in this Bluebird house on this porch post left of the door. They are FAST! They can dive into that hole at 10 mph I believe. This guy decided to hang outside the hole long enough for me to get a good shot.

My wife has a squirrel eating from her fingers now. :D I think it knows her car too. When she gets home at 5:30, the squirrel shows up to get a peanut or two. :D It's hilarious!

I'm looking to see Chickadee babies any day now.

Gazebo furniture out, pool furniture out front porch café set out. We decided not to install the roof of the gazebo just yet so we could enjoy the sun. Outdoor speakers set up and tested. Pool, look like hulk died in it. I will be getting up and running probably this weekend. We had 2 meals outside yesterday!! BBQ super clean (there is no way I'm cleaning it when it's -anything outside) All dog droppings picked up after a very long winter, nasty a$$ stuff.

I used to not like them because of SPIDERS. :s

But if you spray insect and spider control stuff, you won't see hardly a one. :D

I'm really shocked no birds have nested in either vine yet. They're pretty thick and have depth this year. Maybe there's still time.

I bought these vines from a flea market for like 5.00 or 7.50 each. They were about 2' tall. Here's a pic from years ago. May of 2014. I remember we had a severe freeze a year or two ago and we cut all the dead off. There were about 5 vines that looked ok for each trellis but it looked skimpy and we hoped they would survive. Survive they did! :D I just read the other day these ( Confederate) Star Jasmine vines are really tough. I also read they're easy to grow if you give them something to grow on. It's that easy they said. I don't have a green thumb but have had good luck with the vines and my Japanese Maples and crape Myrtles too. There's a little green Japanese Maple I've had for MANY years and it's barely grown 2 ft. since I planted it. I believe an old Cedar tree near it was sucking water from it. We had the Cedar cut down 1 1/2+ years ago I think and this little guy is the FULLEST and healthiest it's ever been. Maybe it will get all the water it needs now. Oh, there was also a Dogwood AND a 30' Pecan tree near it that was probably sucking water from it too. Here they are just on the other side of the sidewalk.
    7smy2cfm5c7h.png

    289pfyo6gkzc.png

The little Japanese Maple that could... :D AFTER the big trees were cut down!
It's on the right. you can barely see it! Scrawny little thing for years and years!

It's sure nice to plants things and watch them grow over the years.

I get why older people take up gardening and landscaping, it's makes time slow down a bit for the seasons to do their thing with Mother Nature.

The Ravens were squawking again in the back field at a Hawk or Owl again. But I couldn't see through the thicket to tell.

Blue Jays will squawk like crazy at a snake

Mocking birds will squawk like crazy at a cat or a snake too.

Squirrels will let every living thing in the neighborhood know when there's a Hawk above and it happens to see it before something dies. It's amazing after the alert squirrel does its alarming chatter, you can hear a pin drop in your neighborhood. :DB) AMAZING stuff.
