Axpona Playlists

I’ll tell you what would be very awesome, is if all who are planning on doing a room at the show, go ahead and publish what songs they will be playing so that some of us can get familiar with the songs on our own systems and see how much better the systems are when we visit....

I never even thought to look for lists like this. Saved this one for fun, but it looks like Cambridge makes quite a few playlist for people to try. Cool idea.

Agree. I thought last year was one of the better years for rooms actually rockin with a lot of music I have in my collection. I’m definitely bringing Billy Jean on a flash drive for TonyB this year.

And who would be playing these?

Some were playing classical, some blues, some electronic, it was actually all over the board. Some were playing LP, reel to reel, some digital, some cd. Tin Pan Alley was the most played song. Although I do use this song as a test and enjoy it quite a bit, by the end of Sunday, I was tired of hearing it LOL.

The songs were playing in different rooms. Nevertheless, there is SO much music being played! So, just pick 1-10 standard tracks that YOU like then ask for them to be played at the show. Many are steaming and some have a vast digital library. Also, if you never listened to vinyl on a $100K table / $200K-$350K system, please do so. Quintessence audio usually has several BIG systems / rooms and brings along crates of records.

The show is my two channel fix until the day I can afford something nice..... Well, not even in the range of most at the show.

But seriously, if you want to talk about a test for challenging dynamics and rhythm, not to mention the ability for a speaker to replicate actual REAL low bass, drum n bass works great:

  • I hope to hear music I haven’t heard before or something that’s not the same ol ****. Show me what your rig can do on something out of the ordinary that’s poorly recorded. Make that palitable and color me impressed.

Do you know why Fiddle contests don’t allow ‘The Orange Blossom Special’, cause any fiddle player can make it sound good.

I feel all rooms should have the exact same song playing so we can get a true feel of the differences on the gear. I also feel that song should be Popcorn by Hot Butter.
