no Dan it is twice as good. They have a pair of 1200w torrids in them and are 100wpc of PURE Class A power.... Needs 220v volt because you cannot pull the amount of current from 20 amp 110v line

Gryphon is good stuff but this one looks BEAT UP.

What do you mean mean by conversion process? Im just curious

Not sure if I would trust the paper label near the IEC socket that says "110 VAC" even though the manufacturer's metal label says 220 V. :s

yea I missed that 15 amp IEC socket as well. Still if it has dual stacked 1200 watt torrids makes one wonder. correct me but isn't max 1500 watts through a 15 amp and 2400 through a 20amp. Well then you would need a 30 amp which would be 220 no ? So yes this was made for 230v and 50hz Denmark.

still strange it has a 15amp IEC

I'm doing more research now as I had missed the tag under the socket. I've reached out to Gryphon as they should have knowledge of the current voltage setting for it.

Until recently Gryphon did not have any US dealers and would not convert their products to 110v for the North American market. I found this exchange on another board from 2016

"No, we have no US distributor. However we have US Service facilities"

" No, we will not factory-direct sell a product for the North American market"

" No, we will not permit European dealers to order 110V product intended for the NA market"

" You may purchase a new or used 220V product in Europe , then ship it to us for 110V conversion at the factory but we will not ship it to NA, only back to the original dealer in Europe".

So their amps can be converted to 110 but until now they would not do it to stop it from being sold in America. Apparently this has changed because now they show US dealers on their website. Who did the 110 conversion on this unit is probably not known.

This was originally a $10,000 amp and it weighs over 150 lbs. Besides the discoloration on the top I don't see anything else to say its beat. I did read these run extremely hot so that is probably why the top is stained.

Very nice! But that is a lot of tubes. I guess you enjoy it till the original tubes wear out then throw it away!

I wonder how many people tube roll with this amp.

Tubes last a good long time. Bob had a circuit that made them run at about half of their max yet got all he needed out of them.
Besides most power tubes you do not roll, I believe that is the signal tubes you mostly roll. That set has 4 in each. Your preamp tube rolling may be more beneficial.
