Which 230W vintage Speakers can you recommend?

I am the proud owner of a Yamaha P2201 amp 230W per channel but I don't have any speakers that can take that much power....

I have the following speakers:

Pioneer HPM-110 110W (For sale £700)
Kef Concerto 44W
Ditton 44 44W

Soon will getting Yamaha NS-1000 100W.

Please recommend speakers of high sound quality that can take 230W.

Your amplifier doesn't throw out it's rated 230 watts as soon as you turn it on. Amplifiers store power, for when called upon. It also doesn't mean you can bury the volume dial.

Recommended watts on the back of speakers means very little too. Read up, plenty of good info right here on the forum.

    No, it isn't.

    Yes it is.

I’m going to go find some posts on speaker sensitivity and power, and I’ll be back.
Nevermind, just remembered we already told you all of this.

I thought mine was bottom of the range until you mentioned this.....

Wait till I get Yamaha PC5002M 500WPC, 1500W in mono! 61KG beast, 2 mains power plugs.

Then I'll be back here wondering which speakers can even handle 1500 watt....

Wrong....there is a difference between "twice as powerful" and "twice as loud". If you haven't figured out how power works in relation to speakers, your destined to blow a few drivers.

  • I went from a Rotel RX602 (35WPC) to Rotel RX802 (50WPC) to Pioneer SA-9500 II (80WPC) toYamaha P2201 (230WPC).

Every upgrade I felt led to more power alot more power.

In fact I heard my Rotel RX-602 yesterday which I sold to my dad and I was wondering damn this sounds weak compared to my Yamaha P2201 very trebly even the midrange was weak and trebly even the bass sounded weak.

Dont know I dont put volumes on 100% full.

But the sound is more powerful.

I'm after power not loud or the one you can hear from furthest distance because I live in a house not needed for a music venue.

If you don't know, why would you agree that double the power would equal doubling the loudness ? Because it won't...….

  • Look at it this way. Your 230 watt Yammie will deliver 115 watts of very clean power and leave it at that.

Speakers don't get recommended by the amount of watts an amp puts out. Just sayin'...your looking at this completely wrong.

ironically, we live in one of the few New England states that hasn't legalized the wacky terbacky.

But Waiting for Columbus is still a heck of a rekkid -- IMO, the single best live rock record ever (overdubs notwithstanding).

... and I'll just leave you with this.
