Thiel Audio to Close

Being located in Nashville, I have watched this company in the media. Definitely, appeared to have issues with all the top level turn over. Did not expect for it to close.

    That CEO though! <3

Nashville isn’t too far away. Think there will be some speakers on the cheap?

From the article I read they have a big stock of their newer ‘lifestyle-type’ speakers.

I think they priced themselves out of the market myself. 5 CEO's in 5 years.... WOW. They should've hired me! :'( ..As an assistant to the CEO.

Thiel's last CEO is below. Sexy sells, but I guess not in this case.

Like there's anything worth buying. Taking a pretigous speaker company and turning into another lifestyle speaker manufacturer. CEO should be shot. All five of them.

I don't know about shooting them but they should give an interview to Stereophile. Every one of them sounds good to me too. Where is Mr. Thiel and his decendants in all this?

I believe Mr. Thiel died 6-7 years ago. The decendants may not of owned enough stock in the company.

What is a lifestyle speaker? Bluetooth boombox things?

That's sad. I thought they were crashing because their stuff was so good and people were interested in garbage.

Thiel Co. sure advertised their super expensive speakers the past years. I read their ads and see those prices and thought, 10 years down the road maybe for me to want to spend on them. I'm not rich, so I have to wait for massive discounts and time to be able to own such GEMS.

I'm more familiar with the Megadeth version of "These Boots Are Made For Walking" and the Cher version of "Bang Bang". And I haven't had a piece of PEZ candy since 1971.

I dunno -- that Facebook guy's wardrobe could use some sprucin' up.
Somethin' like the Thiel CEO's outfit would sure make a statement.

She has limited appeal. Then again, I like Barbie doll bimbos. Although that was my ex-wife's name and she didn't look like your typical Barbie doll. Alas.

I suspect the company was already well on the road to being dead when the current CEO took over last year. Probably wouldn't cost much for another investor to buy the remnants and go back to building real speakers under the Thiel name. Come to think of it, isn't Emotiva based in Tennessee?

on the other hand, typically the grand old names in hifi (and electronics) have been bought and then run into the ground.
