It always amazes me how some people can be so destructive with their awesome Polk speakers. These were beautiful when they were new.

It's like the SRTs that were for sale last year that looked like they had been sitting out in someone's backyard for the past 20 years. All they needed was a vise bolted on one end and they would have made nice $10,000 work benches.

Does it have to be within walking distance before it becomes worth the trip or what?

    80 miles is nothing.

I'd drive a lot farther than that (and have numerous times before) to get audio gear. I would also rather drive a lot farther than have something like these shipped.

Good God, can you imagine how much it would cost to replace all those tubes when they started dying or just tube rolling? At $100 a pair it looks like $2,000 at least.

The new circuit is said they should last 50yrs. But I'm with you. To be honest if you can afford 35k amp then tubes are no worry.

"Silver Seven 700 is the pinnacle of Bob’s amplifier designs, including the DC restorer, which not only allows the use of non-matched output tubes, it prolongs the life of those tubes beyond 50 years!"

Yes. I was a day late and was responding to the post about the Monitor 11T's in Lancaster. I have a motorcycle and an electric car with 100 miles of range, neither of which is a good option to go pick up these speakers. I generally rent a car when I need to go further, which is a a tradeoff I accepted to be able to drive in the express lanes at all times with my vehicles. That raised the cost and hassle.

And I have no regrets with the vehicle choice. The express lanes keep me sane, which is worth missing out on picking up more speakers.

Not really. I have scored some junk and some great treasures at good prices. It all depends. Some offer seven day returns. I bought an iPod classic 160 gb for $30 and added a one year warranty for two bucks more. A lot of them do sell crappy junk. Deals can be found there sometimes. Peace. D

Monitor 10A with Peerless (I think) for $120. Cabinets might need some TLC though, not horrible and the covers look okay in the only photo of them.

Anyone need more bass? This could do some damage. "This is a folded horn sub that measures 59.5 x 44 x 16 inches and weighs 285 lbs. It uses Neutrik Speakon connections. It requires an external amplifier. I am currently running it off of a Behrenger EP4000 amplifier which is a great match for it. This sub provides useable bass output to 10hz."
