To my ears and with my taste, I prefer to use an eq with the 2.3 tl's. BUT, I am not an expert audio dude by no means, just a big fan and 18 year owner of SDA SRS 2.3tl's.
I tend to like my bass and treble to be a bit more than it was when not using an eq.
Your thoughts? opinions? or facts are welcome?

When I got my 2.3TL's, they were shy in the bass department. After upgrading the XO's with new boards, caps and resistors, bass response improved dramatically. What really made a huge difference was using a dedicated 2 channel pre-amp and taking the AVR out of the picture for music. The 2.3's came alive in an astounding way once they were allowed full access to the music without any AVR funny business in between. Spike them or put them on granite. Make sure they are properly configured in your room with 6 to 8 inches of space (adjust based on your room and your ears) between the back of the speakers and the wall and you'll notice some serious improvements.____________________________________________________________
