I think a lot of time has been spent trying to create a certain look. I just don't feel it creates a user friendly layout for a forum. While this Vanilla forum does offer some neat features, I think as is, it makes for a less enjoyable experience compared to the older forum. jmo

I feel like if there was offset colors, like white/off white to separate things would be an immediate improvement... I think I can get use to the overall layout but there is a whole lot of white!

The signatures are much better! They've decreased the space in between the lines of the sig, so they no longer look double spaced. My signature takes up half the space it did yesterday.

I have a question (mmm... two questions, I guess) and I am not sure of the best place to ask -- so I'll put it here.

The old VBulletin forum had a "New Posts" button which would display any and all updated threads since one's last visit. That's been my go-to at this and other VBulletin forums -- fora :-) --for years. I cannot find such a feature on the new forum s/w.

There's a "Recent Posts" button, but it seems to show everything, perhaps ordered newest first?

Is that assumption correct (i.e., is the top post in the 'recent posts' display the most recently updated thread?

Is there a way just to see 'new' posts (threads updated since one's last visit)?

    Thanks!

The only problem with the new signatures comes for those of us out on the wild frontier, with limited internet bandwidth*... some folks' signatures are chockablock with graphics and pages with numerous such posts load in a very clunky manner.

If we ever get faster internet service up here, it'll be a non-issue... but I'll bet I am not the only one with this "issue" :-P

    * No cable and no cell phone signal at my house; best we can do is DSL, and that's only about 1MB service due to the physical distance of our house from the office/switch. Yeah, life's tough ;-)

They added a "delete conversation" button to the PM's....but no way to mass delete, you have to go back and delete each individually. If you just want to save a certain part of a conversation, like an addy or phone number from other members....you can't do that. You have to delete the whole conversation or none of it.

Would it have been too hard to have someone who actually uses the forum to have a say in development ? Isn't that like having an electrician tell you how to build a deck ?

I keep coming to the forum, hoping it has changed for the better and that this was just some horrible dream I was having. Then I see that the dream and the reality are one in the same...a nightmare. Well...back to the BMW forums that are actually not eye-bleedingly annoying.

Aside from the technical issues, this white background kills my eyes, not to mention the lame country pic behind that. Not visually appealing at all.

Apparently, I'm thicker than most. I kept on accessing my automatic link to club polk and seeing the "quick upgrade" message...so I've been out of the loop for a while.
Not really digging the new format...but willing to give it a fair go. But just as an aside, I'm reminded of the bromide "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I dunno Bill, the last forum was indeed "broke", but so far it seems we traded one broke forum for another. Just different area's of broke.

The PM section is awful! Where is Sent items? Should be able to select messages to delete. Yes, I too have previously deleted messages dating back to 2005!

With all the issues of dislike here, dislike there, (quite a bunch) I hope the mods make the needed changes. I also know ya can't please everyone, so I just roll regardless. The bright white is a little hard on the eyes , so maybe that will be one on the first issues fixed?? Other than that, I have no issues and the new layout seem easy enough to get around on to me??.

Before you just went through a thread and checked each post you wanted to multiple quote. How do you do that now?

On the plus side, it appears you have 1 hour now to edit your post. Of course, other audio sites let you edit a post forever.

Profile -> Edit Profile -> Quote Settings.

As for the one hour edit that is not uncommon on forums. It combats people saying one thing then editing it to say another. ;)
