My HT has 8 amps totaling 2,000 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Obviously I don't use all that power. Yes it's overkill, what can I say, I like amplifiers. There is an amp for every speaker pair and the mains are bi-amped.

Just over a 1KW right now.

    Upon completion of bi-amping & tri-amping: (500+ X 2) + 400 + (200 X 2) + 500 = 2.3KW!

After amp upgrades (higher quality amps): 2KW+!!

It depends on which system and my mood at the time. I keep many amps in the rotation. 1.5wpc up to 1800wpc. Every speaker seems to have a particular range it likes.

Given the room size (large) my propensity to rock out on occassion, and the average efficiency of the speakers I typically own, I like to be around 200-250 watts @ 8ohms, with plenty of current capability.

Single-ended 2A3 for about 3.5 watts per channel. As Rolls-Royce used to say (of their engines' power output), adequate.

200 watts with a carver tfm 25, wondering if one of the m series carvers would best it, or after all the caps and such upgrades, would i be better off looking for something newer.

Sounds pretty good listening to "Miss my Baby" from grand funks "good singin good playin", produced by zappa by the way.

Would my 55 year old ears tll the diff?...........HMMMMM

Into my 4-ohm speakers, I've had between 150 and 400w. Now I have settled on ~300w with my LSA. Plenty for my listening.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
