A friend of ours comes to our house and cuts our hair. She came yesterday and brought her 4 year old daughter. My 14 yr old was playing with her while cuts were being done and I hear a big thump. They were playing tag and the 4 yr old decided one of my RT600i surrounds would be a good "base". She pushed off to run away and the speaker tipped over and smashed into the wall. Cracked the top corner of the maple veneer and tore the corner of the grill. Arghh! Almost wished she poked a driver...that would have been easier to repair. Her moms response... "does it still work?"

I read through this thread yesterday and last night after finishing dinner with my 9 month old he proceeded to hammer away on his high chair tray with his spoon. He was so enthusiastic about it, and all the while I could not get the image out of my head of the spoon being a lego or matchbox car and the tray being one of my speakers.

He's really starting to get around well now with crawling and pulling himself up on things. I think its time to invest in a baby gate blockade for the whole entertainment center.

That sucks...unless she offers to pay for a new speaker and a little extra for the gouge in your wall...

That kind of stuff happened to me over the years...I've felt your pain in one way or another. Other people damaging our stuff and sorry is all we usually get.. :(
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

My 18 month old is intrigued with my RTi8's, but is never hard on them. He already has a bit of a musical inclination and will stop dead in his tracks to listen to music he likes (not necessarily kiddy music either...he likes jazz!).

At anyrate, a couple months back he discovered that the music comes from the speakers, and he regularly puts his ear up to the speakers to listen to them...never when its too loud of course. He's either got the ear of a musician (a blessing), or the ear of an audiophile (a curse!)...or maybe both. Both his mother and I have musical backgrounds, although she doesn't share the same passion for home audio that I do.

Doubtful, plus she's a good friend and accidents happen. One nice thing about the 600's is the 2 piece grills are reversible so I put the top damaged one on the bottom so the damage is not visable. The damaged veneer is on the back corner and that isn't visable either because they sit under the ledge of my wet bar....but I know it's there.
