Wanting to Purchase SDA SRS 1.2tl Speakers

Hello All,
I'm new to the forum and this is my second post.
I'm looking to replace a pair of SDA SRS 1.2tl speakers that I lost in a flood. I was lucky enough to salvage my carver gear (1 ct-17 pre-amp & 2 TFM-55 amps) but not the speakers. I miss those speakers. I had them from the early 1990s until 2005.
Any tips where I can purchase a pair and rough estimates for pricing (based on quality range) would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you located? We have a thread here that you may want to subscribe to that keeps us updated on SDA finds around the country. You should check that from time to time plus if you read through it I think you'll get an idea of what they are going for these days.

I posted the last page in that thread there are a couple of dozen pages since it inception.
In the meantime, they pop up on craigslist & ebay.
I bought mine in 2006 in mint condition for $1500 stock. I believe that is on the low side.
Also, do a search on the screan name lasareath he has some that he modded and keeps up on what's out there.
Have fun! -
I live in Peachtree City, GA.
I will check out the link.
Thank you very much.
Also, I like your list of toys. I will post my obsessions later.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost such a good pair of speakers in a flood.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

How about some 2.3TL's?
Hello ben62670,
I'm going to pass on the 2.3TL's. However, based on what I have read in these forums, I will definitely contact you about upgrading capacitors, etc. once I purchase a pair of the 1.2TL's. It seems as though the upgrades really make a world of difference in the sound clarity.
Thanks for the offer,

ben62670,
I may have a sale for your 2.3TL's. I'm sitting with some buddies of mine around my Komodo Kamado cooker and showed some photos to one of the guys who is currently drooling over the vintage Polk speakers forum.
Please send specs, upgrades, etc. (and photos, if possible) as well as your asking price.

Welcome to Club Polk toucanet!!!
You've come to the right place to find your next and hopefully final pair of 1.2TL's!!!
I would say that they pop up for sale every 2 months or so, you really need to look on ebay, search for POLK SDA and also look on craigslist.
I bought mine on ebay for $1158 but they were beat to hell. You can see some pics at the links below:
Good Luck and keep asking us questions and search the forum because it is filled with tons of great information that will help you upgrade your Polks when you get them.
Lasareath
Thanks Lasareath,
I visited your website for the photos and was truly amazed and envious.
Very nice job! -
What is your asking price for the pair? -

Most of the big boys have been coming from the Arizona area, lately. Just keep your eyes open and pounce when some show up.

Peachtree City.
I have not been watching craigslist. I will check it out now. -
I found a pair on eBay. I am waiting for the seller to respond to several questions. Maybe he will respond tomorrow morning. Appears to be a business instead of individual owner.

You realize they are the original SDS/SRSs and not SDA/SRS 1.2 TLs? There is a big difference in crossovers & tweeters.

Yes, for one they state SDA/SRS, second, looking at the tweeters they don't seem to be the tri-lams which are SL3000s for the 1.2TLs. They can vary in color from a bronze/gold look to grey, to almost black. Others might chime in about different colors of SL3000s they've seen. -
It is a rather bad pic- hard to tell if they are the 3000's
-
This guy has also sold, from what I can remember, 3 other sets of SDA's on ebay.
He keeps miss quoting the SDA acronym as "STEREOPHONIC DYNAMIC ARRAY"
Wonder where he is getting all of these SDA's -
toucanet, sorry to hear about your flooding issues:(
I found a pair of 1.2TL's for $!,500 and easily talked the guy down to $1,250. They were in fine condition with only two bad tweeters (although we,ve upgraded all of them by now).
I will keep my eyes open in my area for you and hopefully we can find you another pair!
Good Luck,

Nice find!
I am looking at the information now. I left a voice message for the company.
Does Polk still carry parts (replacement speakers, etc.) for these speakers? If not, where are parts being purchased?
Thanks,

What amp(s) were they using to drive these monsters?
Did anything (flaws/damage) about them stand out that is cautionary? I'm waiting for them to call me back (I see that they open at 2:00).
I would like to see more photos of them.
