Lots of interesting hobbies out there. I like reading about history. I'm also building a model "air and space museum" for my office. Have traveled a lot (27 countries) but the economy has caused me to scale back on that! Hiking. Scuba diving and underwater photography. Used to work on cars a lot but no projects in recent years.

I'd REALLY like to re-kindle the astronomy hobby I had when I was a kid. Have you guys seen some of the pictures nabbed by amateurs these days:

    http://www.planewave.com/index.php?page=2

If my businesses do any better I'd like an exotic car (or two).

Interesting to read about the guys with fish tanks. Always wanted to do that but never got around to it.

I also like working with animals.

    Chris

    Did I mention home automation?

I used to do the fish tank thing as well. For several years I had a 130 gal reef tank. With the exception of the protein skimmer, the remaining filtration was all homebuilt. I even made my own glass "drill bits" for my filtration system. I had over 200lbs of live-rock in that tank. Somewhere, as a Polaroid, I have a pick of wife laying in the tank before it was put onto stand.

When the tank lights were on, the dog would jump up on coffee table and watch for hours.

And, actually, they are not "arrow heads", they are "points", which I stated. Arrowheads are a more modern item. The ancients did not use them. What you are seeing in my pics are mostly tools used for their everyday life. Grinding stones, gardening tools, and cutting tools that were mounted into the ends of bone and antler handles. There are also other tools in the pics that are flint drills and hole making equipment. There are hide scrapers and even the Paleo equivalent of a pocket knife.

The feeling one gets when they pick up a 5000-10,000 yr old (or older) piece that hasn't been touched by human hands since the day it was lost or dropped.....cooler than cool. There are times when I find a nice specimen that I just sit down in the very spot and ponder. It is about ancient history, nothing more.

I hunt ancient tools and flint points as well! Great place for it with the Paleo, Hopewell, etc.. that roamed this area. I have several sites I hunt every year that no doubt were occupation sites. One of the best is in the fields around the remains of a glacial lake that is maybe 5 minutes away.

Here are a few pics of some of my favorite pieces. I have hundreds of broken ones..heart breakers.

    Hey Tim
Bev's mom (affectionately referred to as "granny") found a wicked cool arrow head up on their mountain. It almost looks like it's emerald. It's green, and translucent---it's very small, maybe just a 1/2" long, and the shape is perfect. Do you know anything about this type of arrow head? They live in Lakeview, Oregon--and that's where the arrow head was found...

I've got two Texas Bluegill in my Pacu tank, just about big enough to eat. Cool fish.

    RuSsMaN,

You really have bluegills in your tank and almost just about big enough to eat? If so,

    YOU RULE!!!!!

I have always wanted to keep fish like that and perhaps some bass or crappie too. Not the exotic, but gold fish sized ones found in most aquariums.

Maybe, trout and pike in a separate cold water tank as well.

    +1!

I enjoy things that go boom as well. Skeet, clay and trap is a relatively new, fun hobby for me.

I also started taking Muay Thai and some private dance lessons in conjunction with kicking the cigs a few weeks ago. Progress has been....slow so far in MT, but I truly enjoy it.

Also enjoy playing the piano, playing soccer and throwing darts.

was really big into R/C for some time, haven't touched them since I purchased my house, about 3 years ago. Still have a couple left and I'm always considering picking it up again, but only as a partial hobby. I was hardcore before with racing, modding, etc. Took up way too much time.

Anyway nowadays, besides time with the ole lady, most of my time is consumed by:

    -Weight lifting
    -TaeKwanDo
    -JiuJitsu
    -Muay Thai

A hobby of mine is to work with those people whose decision making process is hindered by their lack of common sense, work ethic, and overall genetic shortcomings.

When not doing that, I pursue protein in the field. Not very successful at it, but it sure is relaxing and frees the mind.
