You are a Hall of Fame Voter

Okay, Polk Forum, you have been entrusted with next year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame vote. Who do you want to see enshrined in 2011? If you have an "other" vote, please let us know who it is. You have up to three (3) votes.

Have fun with it. That's why there are different genres, bands, styles, etc. so all of us can listen to what we like. I, for example, do not particularly care to listen to crap (the 'c' is silent) but others on here might prefer it. I like the 80's hair bands - which is kind of ironic considering my current follicle situation. Besides, they were the only ones we had to listen to in the 80's if we did not listen to Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince (all in the Hall).

I really can't say I'm a fan of any of those bands. However, I think Heart seems to have been the most influential in their own way. Granted... Barracuda tends to send me into a blind rage every time I hear it. Oh well, I'm pulling out of this race.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. I didn't realize we could pick 3. I thought long and hard before choosing Chicago. I love Rush, and Yes, and Def Leppard- I kinda agree with CCurt on the Kiss thing- But Chicago was very prolific, and encompassed many different styles as they evolved with the times, and I always was a sucker for horn sections.

Curt, I'm putting you up for banishment from the RAS and you may get the ignore button on top of it.:p You are flippin' crazy if you feel none of those bands deserve to be in the HOF. I'd say almost all.

Rush. Even though, at this point, I'd be insulted if I was them. Who the hell want's to be associated with ANY club that had Madonna in there:confused::mad:

As far as Kiss, they might not make it into the RROH, but if someone ever puts up a MARKETING/ MERCHANDISING Hall of Fame, I'm sure they'll make it in on the very 1st ballot;)

Yeah, me too. But I would also make Journey a close 4th. BTW, check out this vid of Rush on the Cobert Report. Love his Hall-of-Fame comment @ 4:52, but I find Cobert's humor annoying at times.

Rush - One of the most musically intelligent bands of all time
Kiss - Probably the best merchandising band of all time, plus, there has to be a place in the HOF for clowns.
Journey - Perfected the rock power ballad!

They couldn't play so well but they always put on a show and I never felt like I didn't get my money's worth .......... so my vote goes to KISS!

Rush - they were good at one time, but no award is going to make Geddy Lee pretty.
Yes - they were all Rick Wakeman's boy toys, but at least they had nice hair.
Chicago - very nice albums, very nice people, rock&roll ain't about being nice
Heart - Led Zep wannabees who when that gig failed kept trying to sleep with the boys from KISS
Journey - they had one good song "Of a Lifetime" then they should of went on another journey to new careers
Def Leppord - if they weren't def then they might of been in tune
The Doobie Brothers - had more going on than just music, must of been the original don't ask don't tell
    Hall and Oates - why?

See folks, rationalization is your friend!

DK, gotta disagree with you on that one. Two of Journey's songs, "Don't Stop Believing" and "Wheel in the Sky" rank right up there with the top rock anthems of all time.

..... with either Steve Perry or Arnel Pineda.
