They are calling for another 10"-20" of snow on top of the 20"-30" we got over the weekend.
I am sore and done with snow.

We've had less than 1" all year so far. I knew there was a reason I moved south (18" snowstorm in Southeastern Michigan on the first day of spring, 1996)For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I'm with you on this one. They are only calling for 6"-12" here but I'm done with snow. My wife's been loving life though, beings I'm still unemployed I'm the one having to stay home with the kids when they are out of school while she's at work. My kids thought the whole idea of being out of school this much was great until I told them they may still be in school in July making it up, attitudes changed then.:DMoney Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!! -

...I am in DC....calling for 10" to 20" more. Two storms will bypass normal yearly totals. Liquor Stores CLOSED!!! Mail not delivered. What is the WORLD coming to??? Dam Global Warming.....all that extra moisture.

We're finally getting in on this action starting tonight. 15"
Woo hoo! Too bad I don't have a snowmobile. The trail starts right down the street from me. -
They're still trying to figure out the path of the storm, but if it tracks a little east, we could see up to 12" of snow by the time it's done. Currently they're saying anywhere from 6-12"Ludicrous gibs!

Well, I already took the day off on Wed for this one since I see no reason to bother going in--I'm sure my kids schools will be closed anyway and I can get all the work I need to get done from home.
I hate having to be out when the roads are bad, esp when I have my kids in the car--mainly because of all the other idiots on the road--I don't trust them.
These storms are sure costing the local towns quite a bit in prep and cleanup costs.
My biggest concern is losing power--the last thing I want to happen is what happened in Cape May, NJ in Friday's Blizzard.
Not to derail but does anybody have any suggestions for a decent portable generator--enough to handle a couple refrigerators, and probably minute electronic ignition for a gas heater and Hot water heaters, and perhaps the network routers cable boxes and a laptop? I'm thinking something temporary from Home Depot, Sears or Lowes until I get around to getting a permanent one with automatic switchover and more power to handle other luxuries.
Any brands to get or avoid? Any minimum Wattage?
I can deal with power failures if I can have the basics-but without heat, hot water or refrigeration, everything just sucks.
The word is that power won't be restored for most in Cape May until Wed!! I think they said something like over 50000 were w/o power as of Sunday (although that might have been all of NJ not sure).____________________

We have 8" on the ground right now calling for another 3-4 tonight and tomorrow with the winds picking up:( The problem with this one is that the snow is really fluffy so a little wind will make things very interesting to say the least.
Good thing I have beer in the fridge:D

Downside to living a mile away from work... you're always expected to be the one who can make it in. I've seriously considered moving further away so that I can come in at lunchtime "due to the roads" like everyone else.
Probably half our department will be "working from home" tomorrow because the roads COULD get bad, at some point. It's not even supposed to start here until afternoon.Ludicrous gibs! -

we lost power this year(as usual) and i was tired of feeding the welder 7 gallons every 5 hrs to keep my fishtank from freezing so we went to sears and got a 3500 watt briggs powered genny.it was as if we had grid power save the street lights in my driveway were turned off and of course no dryer or stove but had heat, hot water and coffee so what the hell 110 or 220. it ran 14 hrs on 4.5 gallons and didnt skip a beat. cost 450 total after going to home depot and getting a twistlock plug and 30 ft of 8/3. oh yea! we only get 6 inches so being from spokane wa. it doesnt even warrent getting the shovel out. 4WD.... -
Yes sir, thank God, so far, that we haven't had any power outages with all this white stuff.
-
Man, I really miss the snow, lol. Past two years we got hammered here and set records for the most snow. This year has been pathetic, only about 12" all year and it has been above freezing for like a month and a half now.

The more snow for D.C. the better. The more neutalized they are, the LESS damage they can do.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
