Anybody out there getting hammered by this big boy? Looks to be coming this way by tomorrow evening. We don't get too much snow here, so this may be a big one for my area.

I love snow but hate losing power just like everybody else. Glad we got a local lightman1:D:eek:

Central and southern Arizona got hammered last Thursday night by this system. Worked 13 hours in thigh deep snow on Saturday to help get the power back on.

They are salting the roads and they have been down here since last night. Are we gonna get hit?

    Doubt it.

If we do? Holy chit! I remember the ice storm of 2000. We were without power for 2 and 1/2 weeks. My living room was a warm 42 degrees in the middle of the afternoon. My fish were not moving, just nose down flowing with the movements of folks walking. What a miserable time.

Since that storm? I have a gas fireplace, a kerosene heater, queen size sleeping bags, a generator, plenty of candles and more blankets than you can handle. I'm NOT going through that again.

    I still doubt it though.

I worked nearly 100 hours that week, Monday to Super Bowl Sunday. Ice storms on back-to-back weekends suck! Still got the GaPower pullover to prove it!

They're calling for 100% chance of an ice storm down heah in Columbia.
Which means a run on the generators

And remember good citizens, PLEASE turn off and disconnect your generators if you see us in your neighborhood. Backfeed is a ****! Transformers work in reverse as well.

Lightman lives!! Whatsup Russ, hope all is well in NC. I'm putting in applications down there now; hoping to land something in Charlotte.

My dad works as the maintenance manager for a Fed-ex aircraft terminal down there. Snow has been 100% confirmed, and we're expected to get hit in VA as well. The 2 feet we got last kind of broke me on snow for the winter, so I'm hoping we don't get hit as hard this time...

I live in Huntersville, 17 miles north of Charlotte, NC and I expect we will get a good amount of snow by Sat. I am going to the groc store tonight to get the fixins for Beef Stew, so it should be a good weekend, movies, stew and plenty of beer.

I yell at my dad all the time because he backfeeds his panel through the dryer outlet if he has to use his generator. He says the notes he's left for himself all over the place reminding him to kill the main are enough. I say, why not put the correct device in place that will do it for you???
    Ludicrous gibs!

If anybody has a generator tied into their main system they should have a disconnect switch on the generator feed....This is what I have out on the farm..

When the throw switch is up its on the grid, in the middle is off the grid and generator, down is on the generator. Works great!!
