May be a dumb question but, why is your panel outdoors, and why so few spaces for such heavy amperage?? You might want to see if the electrician that does your "heavy-up" can run new SEC and mount the new Cutler Hammer panel inside the house. Re-setting a tripped breaker in a Fla. rainstorm is not something I'd be interested in doing!

If the electrical panel box is bigger, the grey box will be removed I don't use it. The panel can be moved to the right an electrical pipe which goes to my pool sub can be moved a little. So if needed the main panel can be moved to the right, that would be easier.

In Florida I see a lot of electric main panel outside, it as a main break. The sub panel is usually in the garage.

Looks like a job for highly paid professionals! Get the biggest panel that in only your wildest dreams could be filled. Make it the last time you will even have to think about doubling up circuits. I ran 2 dedicated lines to the mancave and wish I had 3. PS Audio quintet, power amp, and a seperate digital line would have been nice. I can use the switched line to the lights in the area but a computer and other stuff are on it now. Its cheap to run more lines than you think you will need, its only the cost of the wire. Big pain in the @ss to do it later.

Anyone have an idea what this could cost?

Pull permit and replace main panel with 20/40 GE panel, all new breakers. Whole house surge protection, and 3 dedicated 20amp receptacles in the family room.

Depends on which whole house surge you do. I've seen $500 dollar ones, but I've also seen ones that get upwards of $10K.

For a decent setup, I would budget between $3-4K to be safe.

Well I think the surge protection will work ok, but this is be no means the last device protecting electronics.

    It's the IG1240 which I believe it's around $120.00 for the part.
