Happy new Year everyone!!!

Title says it all. I will go first.

I'm finally putting in a whole control system. I currently have a big zone 2 using Universal remotes , Apple Air port expresses , Universal Ipod dock , rotary volume controls etc. I'm replacing all that with Control 4. I started Installing them after I went to training in Utah back in 2006. They are a newer company that offers a really good control system for less then Crestron and AMX but retains a lot of the same features and control abilities. The company was started by Engineers from AMX/Phast and Crestron. I really like there interfaces and now they have a Iphone Itouch app that allows to to control your entire house including HVAC , Lighting , Door Locks , Sprinklers , Shades you name it. You also have outside control meaning I can call into my house from anywhere in the world and view my camera's , unlock my front door , turn on or off lights , setup the theater , turn music on anywhere in the house , etc.

For the familyroom theater system I finally want to get a new TV. I'm also considering relocating all the gear to the basement Mid Alantic rack for a clean room free look. I will mount the Mythos 10 center underneath the plasma. I thinking of selling my Ps3 and Pioneer ELite DV58av to get the Oppo so I can have just 1 piece of gear instead of 2 to do there jobs. I like both very much as why I have not moved into the oppo just yet.

I'm also considering adding a 8 x 4 Matrix HDMI switch and share all my gear in my Master bed as well as both Kids rooms. I am considering taking the Masterbed gear down to the basement and sharing all of it as well. Adding another Apple Tv or 2 and sharing them. Having dedicated gear per room is nice but can add up on cable bills. I figure 2 cableboxes can run the entire house along with a Blu ray player , 2 or 3 Apple Tv's( due to the fact music and pictures also live on it with movies , kids are going to be listening to music a lot more then watching tv) Xbox 360 and the Universal Ipod dock. That may go away 2 but it's nice if someone comes over they can dock there ipod and listen all over my house. Everyone has an Ipod in my house or 2 but I want to have all the music stored on my back up hard drives and access all that content with the Apple Tv's. It's badass as you can control the Apple Tv's on your Iphone or Ipod touch including volume. You will not have to control the Control 4 system once you set your source and volume level in whatever room you are in. Cover art and everything.
I will also include my Airport extremes if someone wants to stream music off there Mac computer. The Apple Tv's also have this ability but I figured I have the Airport extremes so why not give the ability to have another source.

Once I get the Control 4 system Installed I will not really ever need to use any of the Control 4 controllers. I will use my Iphone for everything including the theater. It's so badass I'm excited to get this all done. All wiring and speakers are all in place. I may add a few more zones as not every single room in my house is loaded with speakers. Almost though LOL.

We have been wanting to finish our basement for years. I have been planning since before we built the house. Now that the kids braces are done , sheds are paid for , the deck in on the back of the house, all landscaping is finished and paid for I finally can start building my dream. It's a long time coming but after thinking about it it's all worth the wait. I'm planning a 16 x 24 theater. Stadium seating , motorized curtains and maybe now a theme. All controlled by Control 4. The Mythos system will stay in the Familyroom with all gear in the basement and I will spec out an entirely new system for the theater room. I'm thinking Triad and maybe NAD , B&K , Anthem or even Integra preamp with B&K amps. Who knows thats still a little away. I'm also kicking around B&W as I love theater with B&W. We shall see.
Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time.

I like this part........and hoping you do a kicka$$ theater with JVC projector on deck. To me picture is just as important as sound, so treat all equal if you know what I mean.

As for my own personal upgrades I'm going to upgrade my fronts. I'm thinking Tyler Acoustics or Salk. I looked and auditioned B&W 802Ds/HTMD (center), and overall I did like the sound, but for a price tag of 20k, I thought; NOT!!!. So I'm working with Ty and Jim to give me some best deal quotes and hope to come up with something soon.

Aside from audio I'm also planning a new ride: Mercedes Benz CLS550. Overall I'm happy with what I have and may just heh, screw it I'm good. Definitely buying the car though.

I need to move my system into the basement, that means i need to finish the basement.

With my lighter & hopefully more agile self it should be much easier to do, most likely going to start when it gets a little warm out.

I'd like to wire up the house and add in-cieiling speakers throughout the house because sometimes you just don't have time to sit in your audio room to listen to tunes.

And I want to get some Tubes!!!!

    Mandatory :p

    Sal,
If you heard my Anthem now your jaw would drop. You'd be running to the shop to buy a tube pre-amp.

    My resolution for my system:
    • Move my gear from Cincinnati to Winston-Salem safely. (Pointers?)
    • Set it up for optimal SQ on hard-wood floors in an older house.

If I get a decent job in the near future I want to upgrade my receiver or think about an inexpensive pre-amp or both.

Stop tweaking and enjoy the system I've so painstakingly built. I've spent the past 6 months rolling tubes and now that I finally have my personal "holy grail" tubes it's time to enjoy the music.

My goal this year is to heavily increase my music collection and go out and take some chances with music I might like but have never heard or revisiting some old music I have forgotten about.

    Happy New Year

Movie and receiver manufacturers are trying to go there for sure. In one of my latest mag. I get I think the receiver has 10.1 or 11.2 ...

Now my goal;I hope to upgrade the caps. and things in my Polk SRS2s and also to diagnose the crossover problem in my CRS's too. I also need to redo the oak caps (top and bottom) on the SRS2s. Dampen the MW and PR baskets.

And also to sell more gear and speakers to reclaim space and then set up a quasi RT5000 surround set up. I still need to get that center channel.Whish I could've afforded yours John! Bad timing was all.I had to fix that Sunfire I bought months ago.Glad it happened soon because now she charges 350.00 flat rate.

Also to hear a big set of SRS's and possibly own a pr. also!
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

My resolution is to enjoy the new speakers, first and foremost. Then I am planning on getting another Anthem1 amp to Bi-amp the Linbrooks. Other than that? Pretty much nothing but totally customizing the rig.

I just ordered a new black faceplate for the Jolida and I'm working on getting a custom ribbon mahogany face plate and remote for the Dodd MLP. Once that is done, I plan on making more custom face plates for both of the Anthem1 tube amps so that the preamplifier, remote, speakers and both amps will all match. The rest of the gear will all be black and wherever possible, all LED's will be replaced with matching blue LED's. To finish it all off, the Elite stand I have will have a custom black paint job and a couple of clear coats done to it.

IF I still determine that I want to keep the VMPS larger/SMS-1 combo in the rig, I will be re-wrapping the sub in ribbon mahogany to match the rest of the rig. Finally, I will be adding a dedicated line with a PS audio outlet.

Then it's off to sitting down and enjoying the sweet sounds, beer in hand. :D
~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I intend to install RDO198's in my SDA SRS 1.TL's and "perhaps" get the crossovers done, I am pretty happy now to be honest. And get a high quality Tube preamp something new or at least newer I am tired of taking older used crap to the shop and it taking forever to get fixed and perhaps buy a set of MIT speaker cables even though I have my doubts that I will detect enough of a difference to make it worthwhile I am perfectly willing to give them a shot.

PS. Also get a Blu Ray player just to see what the fuss is all about even though it isnt audio related other than the new audio formats.

Also Tom I have located that Bedini clarifier if you want to still give it a listen I will send it to you anytime just say the word I really would like your oppinion.
