My Boss Rocks

Dude, this is a great post, because you know what? Until I read this I wasn't sure there was anyone out there who could relate.
There are some really **** bosses out there, but most of the ones I know are very generous people who appreciate their employees more than they'll ever know. I'll bet everything I have that you wished to God you could have given your employees more this year.
Sometimes it's just not possible, and even still you took 'em out for a drink while you're probably scared out of your mind about the economy and when this **** is all gonna end, etc.
Our business is down 47% this year. Most of the guys have been working 30 hour weeks in order for the whole crew to keep their jobs. The good thing is they all understand that times are tough and that it's not just some evil conspiracy to screw them out of what they "deserve." They know we've always been generous in the past and that we wish we could have given them more this year.
Yep, hardly anyone on this forum knows guys like you are kicking in 10s of thousands of dollars of their own savings and even borrowing against their homes to keep their businesses afloat and their employees employed in this economy. If you lose your business they simply lose their jobs. What do you lose? A hell of a lot more. That's why CEOs make more than janitors.
I'm really happy that there are people who are doing well who can get great stuff. What's sickening is watching people whine they didn't get something good enough. I get that some employers don't appreciate their employees, but truly be thankful you have a job no matter what your boss is like. If you hate it that much, quit and work for someone who will appreciate you more.
There's no bigger kick in the balls to a boss who is generous than employees who expect a gift. You should never expect anything other than the paycheck you earned. You'll be a lot more appreciative of the times you get nothing more than a fruit basket rather than whining about it. Sometimes that's all your boss can afford and it pains him more than you'll ever know that it's all that he could.
Merry Christmas
Demiurge, I don't know what to say except thanks for the post and here's to a better 2010!
Happy holidays, Chris -

I apologize also to the OP for my opinionated comment. When I get rewarded at my job I am sure to pay it forward to those who helped me achieve my reward.[
