So my wife got me a present today.....

Even though I told my wife not to get me anything, she insisted that I make a wishlist. Well, today she also insisted that we go to Fry's electronics and create another wishlist so she can get me something I'd like but still be somewhat of a surprise.

Before I get to anything else, let me add that Fry's has the MicroPro 2000 for only 349.99! I wanted to put another 1k on the wishlist but they ran out :(

Anyway, I fell in love with the 7's and 9's they had. Keep in mind, these were being powered by a receiver and were actually out of my 'wishlist' budget. Well since there wasn't anything else, my wife decided what the hell why not and she got me a pair! So, I'm now the proud owner of a pair of LSi7's which is funny cause I've wanted a pair for awhile now. I got the speakers for LESS than what they sale them for (long story) and still got the free PSW111!

I don't want/need the PSW111 so figured I'd sell it on CL. I'd post it here but I'd honestly be selling it to get some cash back otherwise I'd offer it here. Can't wait to break them in though and get them on a pair of good stands :D:D:D

The day went pretty well too afterward considering I got to hang out with Christopher and his girl for a couple of hours. Been wanting to do so for awhile but today we did and they got to meet my wife. Had some fun while we chilled listening to tunes and talking each other's heads off. The guy makes some great tasting chilly, my wife really enjoyed it.

Now I've got another problem though.....what to do with my Magnepans?! :p

Pictures to come!

Was that mp2k a floor model. Was going there today but something came up. Called about the mp2k but they said they had a floor model with no feet.

    Congrats on the purchase.

    Yeah, what's up with that?

Thanks, actually I can keep the Maggies and the 7's but I live in a small apartment so where would I keep them? I would have to keep the Maggies in the living room if I use the 7's because I really don't have room to put them elsewhere, and I mean nowhere else at all. Factor in the fact that I still have a pair of RT1000P towers as well, just too many speakers for me to keep here and no room to store them. Hell, I don't even have to sell the Maggies maybe someone would be interested in trading them for something here.....hmmm.

When I went, they had the 2k in stock (in Downer's Grove) along with the floor model. They just didn't have the 1k which I wanted because it'd match what I have. Would be weird to own a 1k and a 2k.

    Thanks btw :D

Fry's has the 7's for 559.99 for Cherry and 799.99 for the Ebony pair.

9's were 999.99 but it didn't state what color they were at that price. We didn't even pay 559.99 with taxes ;)

Looks like you're wife 'solved' your dilemma a bit earlier than expected..

Enjoy! It will be a cold day in Hxll when my wife considers ANY audio gear an acceptable gift for her husband, if you know what I mean...That's not what she thinks about--ever...nonetheless she is the silent beneficiary of a pretty good system! And doesn't complain about that!!

Man, I soooo want a set of them.

I did too if you recall my wanted posts and everything else that went on :p

The first thing that immediately stuck out about these is they sound much bigger than they actually are, and this was when I heard them at Christopher's house powered by a Pioneer Elite at moderate volumes.

I'll be using these speakers with my fully-modified amp (in my sig). They'll have more power than they really need, but again you can't ever have too much power!

You're right about that Lee. They do have some weight to them even though they're pretty small (compared to my current pair). The binding posts alone just look really heavy duty!

Iirc, you told me the 9's had a surprising amount of bass. Listening to the 7's now without the subwoofer on and the bass these things provide is amazing and accurate! I know they'll only get better once they're fully broken in.

Now question, since I don't have stands right now and just have them running to get them broken in what's the best way to position these? Yes I know that's subjective but should I toe them in at all like Magnepan's or should I have them facing forward like you would with SDA's?

I would definitely toe them in some. How much or how little depends on your room though. The only way to find out is by playing around with different placement.

I've yet to hear the 7's...just the 9's. I was thoroughly impressed with the 9's, but I definitely want to hear the 7's before I decide on one or the other. I've heard many people say that the 7's sound better, due to not having the mid-bass hump that is present in the 9's.

The 9's really did have some impressive bass performance. I'd imagine the 7's perform very admirably as well. A sub is necessary for a truly full range setup with either speaker, but I could be very happy with just the 9's in a 2 channel rig. Stereo subs would make things even better. A pair of MicroPro1000's or 2000's...or possibly a pair of Epik Vanquish's or Sentinels.

I think I just need to get a pair of 9's for up front and a pair of 7's for surround duty. That way, I'll be able to swap them back and forth between main and surround duty.

Bring me over a pair of 30-36" speaker stands and get your ears on them yourself :D

I still have the Maggies too so we can throw those on. I'm currently using my Polk towers as makeshift stands unfortunately but that's just temporary of course. Maggies are just sitting behind the RT1KP's/LSi7's and it looks weird lol.

I'll mess around with placement once I get stands. I'm thinking of putting my Maggies up for sale again, and use that for a pair of Shotgun S3's since Mark's pair made my rig sing. Speaking of, I've gotta send them back already but been too damn busy. :o

I don't any speaker stands, but my Monitor 7A's make perfect stands for the 6's when turned sideways. They're still a touch below ear level, but it was good enough for me.

Maybe I'll just bring the 7A's along...then they can serve the dual purpose of playing music and serving as speaker stands.

Right now, just right and I know they'll only get better.

I've heard alot of people mention they're very warm, and for me that's perfect because my Maggies are very warm as well. Extremely smooth midrange with balanced highs and lows. These are just my initial impressions of course, but I'll post further thoughts once they're fully broken in and I'm able to listen to them at a much higher volume. Kind of glad that I'll be running something more efficient than what I'm used to :p

I already considered that for when I sell my RT1000's. Had a few people bite but no sale. She got me the LSi's as my x-mas present but let me have it early since I let her have her x-mas present early, a gaming laptop :D

Still, I got more in store for her. I'm just surprised she actually got me something audio-related. I even caught her emailing Joe A. at audiogon asking specifically about some MIT shotguns  She gave it away though when she asked to see the box that Mark had sent with his Shotgun S3's and when she asked me about balanced/unbalanced cables lol.
