Well, Xmas gifts for the loved ones are just about done and your right we should think of our selves a little.

The entertainment unit in my living room was given to me about 12 years ago and I have been sick of looking at it for a few years already.

Choosing what is best is somewhat difficukt since I only have a maximum of 80" to play with and I am still using a CRT TV (Sony Trinitron 27") at this location and must consider a center piece that will accomodate and support the weight.

Fiddling and mix-matching what is available along with what looks good to me here is what I came up with:

I just bought 2 towers on line (while on sale) and hopefully should receive before Xmas.

I also selected a TV stand/console which can accomodate a CRT but can also accomodate a Panel later on down the road. However, this one is only on the wish list at this point since I am considering other potential avenue. This also allows me to wait for a potential after Xmas sale on this TV console if I ever decide to go along with the purchase.

Next step will be to "AV furnish" the bedroom :)

KASR, thank you for reminding us that we also exist on our personal Xmas list ;)

Nice gift to self Demiurge, I did that my self last year/winter :) I actually got to use it for the first time this week since we had our first snow fall of the 2009/2010 winter season

    Cheers!

Do the new socks you buy usually have holes? ;)

As cheap as it sounds, I hope the dogs get me some socks and undershirts. ( Willow and now Rudy usually get my wife and I little gifts)
Socks with holes are good for summer use, air conditionning right ;)

I was going to buy a projector and a screen, but put that on the backburner.

As soon as I opened my garage on Wednesday morning I said "Damn, should have bought that snowblower." :p

Shoveling is good exercise and all, but getting up at 3:30 - 4:00 AM for a 2 hour session of shoveling before heading out for a hell ride to the office is not my idea of a good time.

Plus, as a kid I always had to shovel, and being in apartments and condos for the last 11 years without having to shovel anything other than getting my car out (no fun!), I figured it was time to treat myself in the new house.

Now I'm looking forward to the next snowfall.

I fully understand the negative feeling of shoveling before going to work :( I also had to do lots of shoveling as a kid with a sick father and the only son out of 7 children :(

My first snow blower I was much younger and looking forward to the next snowfall but not anymore. I just feel blessed having the snowblower to share the work load with me but the less I need to use it, the more blessed I am  This was a great gift snd investment to self!

I forgot the heating oil we just bought too. :(

I'm glad we only use about 3/4 of a tank(150 gal.s) per year.

I also was considering hiring but looking at the 2 options the snow blower seemed the best option (cleaning of balcony and backyard I also had to do not counting that I don't have to wait for anybody to do on their own agenda). Goodness, I am missing my neighbor (he moved in 2006) as he was out clearing my parking lot and balcony even before I was up  His fee was dirt cheap too (20$ a pop)! In 2007 all stores ran out of snowblowers even before winter started and I was going through physiotherapy and every time I was coming back from a session, I had to clear huge snow banks :( Well, last year I didn't waste time as soon as the snowblower arrived at COSTCO (in August) I bought!

    Cheers!

We lost 2 dogs this summer due to old age, etc.....so we adopted my daughter's 4 yr old St Bernard(what a honey she is!) and this Sunday we will be picking up her playmate. An 11 month old Australian Shepherd. We have had dogs for 30+ years and always had at least 2 so they can keep each other company. The pup is our present to each other. This was my second choice behind the LED TV which got shot down! Oh well, they will have something better out I'm sure by next Xmas!
Yep, my name really is Bob.

Many years ago I had my tank go dry because the landlord told me that it was full. The oil company charged me $700 for an emergency delivery. Thieves.

If that ever happens again, just go get some diesel fuel at a gas station. Prime/bleed the pump and you're back in bidness!;)

I don't have to worry about that any more as I've an all electric house. I get big discounts on my electric bill for that reason. I've yet to get a monthly bill this year for more than $128.

Got mine last month $850 worth of propane. Should need about that more by the end of January.

Seriously, I'm getting a vintage set of Mitsubishi separates. Amp, preamp and tuna. Amp cust out at a 1/3 volume or more, but we can probably fix that. For ten bucks I think it's not too bad of a deal.
