Yep. Stick to the 2D version. Me and the knuckleheads saw this evening. Good story line, nice action, but, the 3D wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Too much layering kinda took away some of the "realism" of it.
I'll give it a thumb and a half.

Went and saw the 2D version today w/ the wife and kids.

It was ok - entertaining. I knew the 'plot line' from the original, so was pleasantly 'surprised' with some of the twists and turns from the original.

It finally dawned on me who "Hades" was - as the voice was so sweetly evil - he who shall not be named...:p

And I could not place who played Casseopia...then my wife said, remember who played the girl in Riddick?

And the whole Liam Nielson bit on Olympus with the blurred shining armor reminded me of Excalibur....was it just me?

It was a...fun...movie. Not sure I'm going to be among those that preorder the bluray though...

Good visuals, but I prefer the original with Harry Hamlin.

    +1

Watched it with a friend who never saw the original. She didn't get it and wasn't impressed. Full of plot holes, etc, etc. I was very disappointed-Great visuals and such, but definitely not true to the original. If I hadn't seen the original I would have been completely lost as to what was going on.
I think the trailer had all the actions scenes in it.

I can't wait to have her over again to watch the original. That will be much better--I only wish we watched the original first.

IMHO it sucked. Not sucked **** and should not have even been released. It just looked a little to "hurried" post production to make it a 3D. Sometimes it looked like the characters in the movie were looking into a mirror with a mirror behind them. (If you catch my drift) You can see the layers to try bring out the 3D. I couldn't get much past that and a half-hearted rehash of the original.

    I so agree.

The original was so much better. I wish they took that and remade that story to the T. Hurried is exactly how I felt. Lets Honor the son of Zeus , lets go get Medusa's Head , Kill the Crackin , Save the day , end the movie..... REALLY????

I so expected it to be so much better. I have it on Blu ray and don't know why.

Agreed!! I still want my $25 back from buying the BluRay.. I was hoping this would be as good as 300. Not even close, the original was a thousand times better.

I enjoyed Percy Jackson & the Olympians much more. I thought Uma Thurman made an interesting modern day Medusa.

The story was hard to follow for me and I'm really a fan of the original...but

NOW for my 2 reasons why everyone should at least buy a DVD or rent one...

The bass from those scorpions was like a bull dozer dropping it's bucket on the ground every time a leg would touched the ground. I kept imagining their weight at 15 tons to produce that kinda thud per leg.

And the Crackin, OmG!!!!!!! that was the most intense bass scene I have ever experienced in my own home or this time, man cave. I thought for sure something was going to fall off every shelf in my man cave!!!

I think I felt the air and moisture come from it's frickin mouth!!!

I liked how people started running at just the thought of it being released. That was the best part of realism in the movie. I'd run as fast and far as I could in the other direction too.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
