Day 3 IS the hardest to get through.. Eat, drink, do anything to get through this hardest point. I hope you make it !!! getting to day 7 will be alot easier, I know. Your body will STOP wanting nicotine, I promise!!

YOUR ALLMOST OVER THE HARD PART!! 24 MORE HRS., LOOK AHEAD

Amazing what nicotine can do to you. Chocolate has a calming chemical in it, try some NOW to get past the next few days. Good luck again...

Would you like some cheese? :)

Hey, go out and buy yourself something you can't afford if you don't quit. That should lock you into the deal. One other way to look at it. You already quit. Why would you consider starting???

I quit cold turkey almost 22 years ago and I was 3 pack a day smoker. I put them down because I was sick (bronchitis) and when I lit one up 5 days laters it tasted like crap. I put it our and have never smoked anything since. It was one of the best things I ever did. You will be glad if you can stick with it.

    Winners never QUIT. :D

Now, I have never personally smoked cold turkeys before, but I'm pretty certain they don't taste as good as tobacco.

    Man, I'm on a roll.

I need a smoke still and cant seem to shake off the mental craving its gona be a week tomorrow that I have been smoke free . Appart from the extreme boners in the morning I have noticed my skin looking better with more color .

I have a shoe box and added up the extras what I spend when I bought smokes so far I have $ 120 saved this week . When I need a smoke I get the money and count it over a few times and tell myself that this iwould be gone if I still smoked

This leaves me with a sadness I have never felt before . All them thousands and thousands of dollars up in smoke and all the hours I have taken away from my life that the hands of time will never give back

No point crying about it and now I can breath easyer I plan to dust off the old free weights and try eat a little smarter . Right now all I do is eat like a sumo wrestler lol

 $120.00 saved in just a weeks time? HOLY $HIT! That's astounding.

Hang in there and keep going. Don't feel sad, because every day you go poison free is another day that you have given back to your life because your lungs are getting clearer & clearer.

Keep it up, you CAN DO IT!!!:)

Congrats on your progress so far! For the mental part I have heard that replacing it with something else to keep your hands busy (not to be connected with the newly refreshed wood:D) helps with the mental part. Some things I have heard are a small thing you can keep in your pocket, like a small flat stone, for when the urge is strong and flip/roll it through your fingers. Kind of like a magician would a coin to practice finger dexterity. Another thing I have heard is get a straw and cut it to the size of a cig. and actually suck on it. This supposedly replaces the hand to mouth movement and sucking habit, which is supposed to please the brains urge for these "habits".
I think counting the money should work pretty good too, especially since it keeps increasing.
    KEEP IT UP!

I have been keeping a ball made up of Mortite scraps on my desk. Kneading it into different shapes gives my hands something to do and dissipates some of that nervous energy. It's a malleable worry bead and it keeps growing as I work on my Monitors. The odd thing is that I did not intentionally set out to replace smoking with this new habit, I just kinda started. I hope it's not harmful. I wouldn't want my fingers to fall off.

Being able to actually count that cash is what helped me too!!!!!

Knowing I could buy something material or expensive food was great.

    I bought both.

Feeling more RELAXED comes after about a month.Your body will know nicotine is not coming anymore and will process food like it was naturaly designed to do.

Well its day number 17 and I still havent had 1 smoke ......not even a sneaky one

I even went out on saturday and I must say that I realy dig the no smoking in public law like never before . I even went with some ladies into the open air smokers den and still resisted the urge . I think the hardest part was when I first picked up the girls and they were smokingn the back seat grrrrr I liked the smell and craved a sly puff

My craving come at rather odd moments , latley I am stressed about this tnksgvn deal and I want to smoke every time I think about it

The first week of quitting is hell and the second week is enough to bring you to tears . Theres been a huge emotional drain on me in that second week and its been very very exhausting but this is now the end of week 3

If any one new to quitting reads this then you should know the after nearly 3 weeks you become free of the disease and pain the hold is broken . The compulsion to smoke will be there but giving in becomes more of a personal choice rather than satisfying the craving

I never would have thought I could have made it this far or pack 15 pounds of **** on my **** and stomach but appart from better breathing ,smelling , hearing and clear mindednes

I HAVE STASHED AWAY TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY FRIKIN DOLLARS FOR AUDIO

That's some great news! I was wondering how you were coping. You're right on about the need to smoke becomes a question of do you want a snack or a cig. situations. Your weight will adjust itself later. Keep it up and enjoy the winter season in all it's crispness of AIR and flavors of FOOD. Congrats !!!
    .
Oh yeah, that CASH. ..keep counting it. Go buy a good deal tomorrow!

Congrats on getting this far, it's not easy but what you said is soooo true. Now is the truly critical time. Don't smoke no matter what. No puffs, no "just one's" If you have that puff or that one smoke you WILL smoke another. So do yourself a favor and don't even have one puff. Ever. I wish you much success and good audio.

Congrats, but I'd be a bit concerned about gaining 15 pounds in 17 days. That's way above normal. I quit for 18 months once, gained about 15 pounds the entire time.

    I'm puzzled by the math too. 17 X $8= $136.

The class action has already been done. By the Feds or states.

    That's why they're 5.00 a pack now.

I wish they'd still at 5.00 here in canada. In the area of 10.00 a pack now and there are still some of us that are stupid enough to smoke :o However, with the e-cigarette I haven't bought a single pack in the last 2 weeks :) I hope it will stay that way, the holiday family parties will more likely be the big tests.
