I went from an Adcom 545 to a Carver tfm-45 powering my LSi 15's and I'm happy with the sound. I've since moved the tfm-45 to my 1C's and am now powering the 15's with a tfm-55. I have an Emotiva XPA-5 powering a pair of LSi 9's in my HT. While I've never done any A/B type comparison, I probably prefer the Carver's to the Emotiva.

Any complaints on the Carver? Or does it do the 15s the justice they deserve?

The best performance of "LSi9" is a "Sunfire":D.

A more accurate quote is this:

The best performance of "LSix" is given by whatever amp you own:D.
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

I haven't had a lot of experience with external amplification, but the Carver sounds great to me. Although I'm still not completely satisfied with the bass, there was a definite improvement over the Adcom in the low end. I could be wrong, but I think a tfm-45 can be had for less than the tfm-55. If so, that's the way I'd lean between the two Carvers.

I think others here haven't been too fond of the Carver/LSi pairing. Maybe they will chime in to give you another perspective.

I have a TFM-35 paired with some LS90's. Not the same, or even very close, but it doesn't sound bad either. I have found my -35 sounds best at a certain volume. I believe mine could use a going through. Still, I paid 300 for it and it sounds acceptable. Good even. Just not good enough.

Well I could have just said it sounds like *ss and been done with it. :p

It's not acceptable to me. Some might find it quite adequate. I'm living with it.
