I don't know anything about all the "Z" car talk on this thread so far, but going back the OP, I like my Challenger.

It has some feel of the old school muscle car with a good ride, plenty of room, and if you drive it decent, pretty fair mpg. I traded my 06 Mustange for it this spring, not because there was anything wrong with the Mustang at all, I just liked the look better and I was nearing 60K on the stang.

OK, you can all go back to smacking each other about your Z's and Civics...:D

Not at all my friend, just sayin that 6 years of anything isnt a long time. Ive had my license since 82' and a multitude of cars later I still cant keep up with the industry...if ive learned one thing on here its NOT to open my mouth and insert my foot! The Z is a nice car, but bang for the buck, gimmie a stang' or Camaro any day. its one thing to not like a particular car company but Fords reliability as of late is right on par with the best of em'.

My last sportscar was a 1969 Camaro, and the last Mustang was
    a 1971. I sold the Camaro in 1979.
All the other stuff in my driveway were owned by son 1 or son 2.
I did have a bit of fun fishtailing around in son #1's 1979 Trans AM.
I never did take his 2002 Trans AM out. That one was the fast one.
The other son's Mustang was only the V6 model.

Caddy? Not in my lifetime. POS with a big price tag.

Note-I did things in my youth with cars I hope none of you would ever do.
I have no idea how I survived to age 21.

Speaking of the Nurbo Ring... wherever the hell that came from.. I've got a trip for work planned in March of next year to Germany and plan to take a day off, rent a BMW and take a lap of the Nurburgring! Should be sweet.

Anyway... As much as I don't want to pick one of the two.. I'd go for the Mustang. I wanted a 350Z, but needed 4 doors, so I bought a G35S, which is essencially a 350Z with 4 seats, 4 doors and can be had close to Mustang prices. I can beat Mustang lap times in it also.

I'm not a big fan of Mustangs with the solid rear axle end and all, but Ford did a better job with the latest version.

Lowell_M - I am very envious! At this early stage I really have no idea what life has in store for me, but I'll be very ecstatic if a lap or two around the 'ring is in the works! I'm sure that will certainly be an amazing experience to remember. And I'm hoping I can relive through your video! MUST NOT FORGET CAMERA!

I can't be sure since I don't speak his peculiar language but I think he meant

The Nurburgring. I could be wrong though. I mean he said "there" when all the rest of us would have said "they're" or "they are".

That is one of my favorite cars. A neighbor had an old Cougar with the hide way head lights, and sequential tail lights. A 351c with 4v heads is an awesome motor.

The 351c 4v is the best mid sized V8 made IMHO. Huge nascar sized valves and ports. Sweet combustion chamber. Best small V8 289HiPo, or 302HO. Favorite BB is the 427 Ford OHC, but those were very limited so the real Hemi(426) gets that award in my book. A buddy had a 71-72 Stang with the 351c 4V and you hit the gas the tires instantly stood up. It easily killed my buddys 455 79 TransAm.

    Sequential turn signals were awesome!

New Mustangs have them too or at least you can get the kit to make them sequential. I've seen it on 6 or 7 different Mustangs toolin' around here.

When I was in my 40's, my wife said that I could buy any car/truck that I wanted if I quit smoking. Went cold turkey and two months later got a "92 Typhon". That was one fun Jimmy.

Drove one with them. But, sadly enough, all the salesman could talk about was the cellphone sync/voicedial crap.

I really liked the stye of the 1967 Cougar. Blew the Mustang out of the water for looks.

No problem. I will say the mustang did get a bit better mpg than I am getting now with the challanger, but I only have 4,000 miles on the challenger so far; though each tank seems to go just a bit farther.

Of the two cars, my wife loves the Challenger over the Mustang; mostly for the ride and room. I like the looks of the Challenger, but I miss the way the mustang drove; but the Challenger holds it's own so far.

Our Challenger is the RT with a 372 hp 5.7 V8 and 5 speed auto. It has more than enough power and can be a handfull if you really get on it.

There are a lot of engine options for the Challenger to consider. You have the 250hp v6 all the way up to 425hp hemi v8. I drove the V6 before I bought the RT and to be honest, it did just fine. I just wanted a bit more power so I went with the V8.

You have a tough choice to make there, but you have plenty of time to make the right one for you and your wife. Hopefully there will be some more useable feedback in this thread.

Good luck and take you time, you'll know what is right for you when the time comes.
