Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden says the balloon boy saga was a hoax and a publicity stung. The Colorado Sheriff held a press conference this afternoon and said no charges had been filed yet, and the parents weren't under arrest. He said he expected to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant. Some of the most serious charges each carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $500,000 fine

I hope they do, I know they are seeking restitution the army helicopters was 14,000 alone not to mention all the other efforts.

wtfunk? i'd be pissed too if i were a neighbor. imagine popperrotzi (like i give a FUC* about the spelling) all up in your hood for days on end. i'd be headlockin' ****'s and punchin' on them too.

you can't threaten the news media..... unless the media was doing something wrong like trespassing or causing a scene that got out of hand or became dangerous.. the media has rights to protect them.

to bad if the media is still in front of the balloon boy's house.. there is no law saying they can't be there.

neighbor just have to put up with it.. yeah it sucks on a big story like that.. but it'll die down soon.

I don't think the media is to blame for this story taking on a life of it's own. it's the boy's father that put his family in danger. serious danger by lying, duping the entire country and several branches of law enforcement and other branches of national security. blaming it on the media is a cop out.

Because of Stupid and Highly idiotic, irresponsible people like these, even genuine emergency calls may get acted upon late or not action taken at all, resulting in real tragedies.

that's all good and well. STILL, if news crews camped out around my neighborhood and really distracted me and my neighbors for days and nights on end, i'd be causing my own ruckus. it happens.
